Pantheon Belief's missing when found Pantheon

When founding a Patheon, often beliefs are missing? Does anybody know why this happens? Sometimes Desert Fokelaw is there, sometimes it isn't. Sometimes Dance of the Aurora is there, sometimes it isn't. Its totally frustrating...

Before you say, "well somebody else has chosen that belief", I am refering to when you are the first player to create a Pantheon.

How do you know that you are the first player who created a Pantheon? (just wondering)

And yes, my belief, (without proof) is that other civs have gotten to those before you.

its quite easy for an ai to grab a 20 faith primitive village or faith artifact village in the first few turns and beat you even if you rush a faith build. I got a faith artifact on turn 5 and still got 2nd pantheon and lost the food pantheon that I was after.

This is especially true when your [playing on higher difficulties and the ai gets bonus faith per turn.

To confirm my hypothesis, I continued the game till all the religions were founded, and none of the religions had selected the belief I was looking for "+1 faith to adjacent dessert tiles".

Damn its frustrating...

there are more pantheons than there is religions. so was it with one of the other civilizations?

You can have a pantheon without a religion. The ones you were looking for were probably with Civs that never founded a religion.

Other civs took it, the only way to tell if you are the first to found a pantheon is to grab a list of all pantheons and check if they are all available upon founding a pantheon. In civ 5 you get a notice saying "an unknown player has founded the pantheon XXX", you only get this notice for civs you have already met the player in civ 6.
