100th Anniversary achievement (RNG based-luck only?)
Hi!!

I'm trying to get the 100th anniversary achievement, and both Crater Lake and Yosemite needs to exist on the map.

Which map is mostly gonna have them two? I mean, I played with Continents a lot, trying to have both, I always find one and once the whole map is discovered, the other one is never there.

So is this purely RNG based luck type of thing? And if I do find a map with both natural wonders, I'm always afraid that it will be taken by another player before I find it. It's an extremely hard achievement.

Any tips?

I tried playing with only 1 opponent, on a huge continents map, in modern times start, on marathon speed, and then it gives me time to fully search the map. But I always find one of the two wonders, never had both on same map. Do you think Pangea might be a luckier choice?

Have you enabled the console. Enter "Reveal all" to see if you have a map with both natural wonders :steammocking:

The bigger the map, the more natural wonders there are. You can even get a Mod (Larger Worlds) which adds bigger(&better) worlds with even more natural wonders.

What's the console?

And no, I don't play with mods.

So it's RNG pure luck basically? The larger the map, larger the chances to get them both? Any preferable maps over others?

Could try to see if you can find a map seed that has both. Unfortunately with how map seeds work right now, there probably isn't one.

Some players got the achievement, so a map out there must exist with both natural wonders. Just gotta find the bloody map. Thanks for the help anyway.

Geez I love this game. These achievements hunting is addictive and awesome!

The debug console is not a mod. "reveal all" shows the entire map (incl. natural wonders) which is useful on occassion. :steamfacepalm:

See http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=804400692

Then keep restarting until you have a map with both wonders

I think I got it on a Huge Island Plates map, not unexpectedly because it was massive.

One thing I've found really hard is finding a natural wonder after having 'discovered' it in the past - i.e. i have no idea where on the map it is and they don't really stand out... ...using the map pins (immediately on discovery!) has been super useful for this!

That's an awesome idea. What I'll do, when I find them both on the map, I'll fortify whoever found the wonder until a settler comes by. Island maps have so much water, I didn't think of using that one to find the wonders. I'll try it out. I always find either one or the other.

Well, case closed as we speak. I just got the achievement few minutes ago !!!!

Here's what I said in another thread too, I repeat myself ! LOL

My map seed started with a 6.
Huge map, pangea
Modern era start
1 opponent (Gandhi)
Abundant resources
Balanced startting position

I took all the given free units, I automate exploration for all of them.
I settled 2 other cities, for a total of three, and played the game naturally.
Gandhi never attacked or asked for anything, he was far from me anyway.
Produce as much faith as you can with your 3 cities from the getgo.
50-60 turns later, my automated explorers found both wonders.
I built 2 new settlers and had 7000+ faith accumulated already.
The achievement wrapped up.
Took about 2 hours real time.

:D

Thanks, Netharon, your seeds work for me even with the following changes in the setup: I have disabled all DLCs, set to Deity difficulty, started in the Modern era, and will give it a go with 10 players ... with some risk that the players who start near Yosemite or Crater Lake may build a district that'll make it impossible for me to create a national park there. But it'd be a boring game without any risks ;-).

I'm wondering how many different map-seeds you tried before you found one that worked? I'm guessing you had to try dozens of them before you succeeded, given that (by my calculations) there's a 1.9% chance of getting 2 specified wonders out of the 47 currently available on a map with 7 wonders. There were many fewer wonders in the earlier years of Civ6, so it wasn't anywhere near as unlikely to have a Huge map with Yosemite and Crater Lake. And Earth True Start always seems to have the same wonders on it -- which don't include Yosemite & Crater Lake. In other words: this acheivement is currently bugged: only acheivable by playing dozens of Huge games as Teddy, or by using the "reveal all" hack (and even then you have to do the hard-yards of generating dozens of huge maps). A map with 14 wonders (available with the Terra Mirabilis mod) has only a 20% chance of having Yosemite & Crater Lake.

In case you're curious: =COMBIN(B$1-2,G15-2)/COMBIN(B$1,G15) is the magic formula to compute a probability value in Excel, if B1 holds the number of wonders in your version of Civ6, and if G15 is the number of wonders on the map you're creating.

The achievement is not bugged. For some people the opportunity might take dozens of games to occur, but for others the opportunity might present itself in the first game they play. Depending on your level of tolerance for RNG in achievements, you might say that it was a poorly designed achievement. However, it is working as designed.

You're welcome. I didn't try anyones seeds. I just kept playing until I finally got it. Very time consuming. Just wanted to save others the trouble.
