Exessive Barbarian Horsemen After Initial Settlement
Has any one else noticed the sudden spawn of barbarian horseman within 10 turns upon founding iniital city at least five paces away from initial starting point?

A scout spotted your settlement (the exclamation mark above) and reported it to their barbarian camp which means it will spawn units execively until you destroy it.

How is that possible that they have horses and spearmens in the first place ??

You really need to be proactive with those barbs TBH. Forget building settlers or monuments to begin with. Really :steammocking:

At higher difficulty, such incidents happened more often once any nearby civ is able to produce pasture. It can be as early as 10 turns. I encountered it at around 10th turn and had to retreat to avoid loses.

The initial barbarian invasion is the developers lame attempt to make the AI difficult but can easily be neutralized with a few slingers or archers.

Nah, they only tend to spam out a couple waves before looking for another target, especially if you're able to clean up the troops outside of your city borders. If another scout from the camp spots you and reports back again, though, that new target will be you again....

I don’t think it’s a lame attempt its really fun.

But I do agree the horse barbs are incredibly annoying early on.

Barbarian air units mounted on ancient kites could be cool to spice up old bones.

Little expensive don't you think I've played games that were more complex and half the price

Yep, 10th turn - 6 horsemans on Emperor... It's really lame, since the AI is so stupid, the only way to make it challenging is to crush you at the beginning. Either by barbarians, early surprise wars, or gifted settlers. If you just keep playing (since they can't destroy you, just slow you down), midgame it's all the same... So I can't be really againts it, since the game would have absolutely no point without such abuse by the AI. But for 60 bucks, the game has to proper single player challenge, and for multi-player, Civ 5 is already much more balanced.

agree. Civ VI by far the best compared to prior Civs. Very pleasing and entertaining. Currently on emperor mode after all previous levels were a cake walk. Got blasted on deity, will wait before giving deity another try.
