So about that map generator...
I have a complaint about how the generator works in this game. I am hoping I can fix this somehow, but on any continent map I make it does two continents that go from the north pole to the south pole with no way for ships to get past. I don't want to always play with super continents with two seperate seas. I want to play with an ocean. I tried lowering the sea level all the way, but that didnt seem to do anything as it did on older civ games.

Another thing is I have played a game on the island plates, and they need work as well imo. You get these stringy islands if that makes since that your navy has to navigate through, and no way to go from east to west directly it just seems odd to me.

Does anyone else agree? Or is there a mod for the continents mode?

No way to make a Panama Canal-esque city? (Gotta love those) Well, until they fix it which may be never (and shame on the devs if that will be the case), one has to use a mod indeed:

https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/detailed-worlds.25668/

comes with these maps

Continents - Detailed
Pangaea - Detailed
Small Continents - Detailed
Fractal - Detailed
Archipelago - Detailed

which supposed to have "Minimal polar land. 99.9% chance of being able to circumnavigate the world by boat. (Low sea level may be harder still)"

and indeed lowering the sea level actually reduces the amount of sea, you apparently made that mistake since you'D like a high sea level for more land tiles being replaced by water which is not necessarily ice.

Yeah, it's silly that it seem rare, if it ever happens, for the world to be circumnavigable. It's annoying.

Civfanatics for mods (including 'No ice locking' for maps)

https://forums.civfanatics.com/forums/civ6-creation-customization.541/

For the maps though -

YaNMP's recent iteration has added a tick box in the 'Create Game' settings ('No ice near land (to help circumnavigation)') which should affect all maps when this mod is enabled.

Maps Plus v2.0 will add two new maps (Pangea Plus and Terra Plus) which generate maps without ice locking allowing circumnavigation.

Edit - East/West circumnavigation only though

Then why don't they just make Icebreakers.

That's the only reason we can't get around. They have 3 tiles worth of friggin' ice in this game.

Even in the earliest days of polar exploration, ice-strengthened ships were used.

On top of that, we can't even use subs under the ice anymore.

Ridiculous.

They need to start firing people before they attempt to fix this game.

Thanks for the mod links I may try one, but I still feel this is a issue the devs need to address. I would think most people that play on continents want to be able to circumnavigate the globe. If we want limited naval play in the game then we can choose pangea.
