how to upgrade spies

one question. how can i upgrade spies. i already looked throught this forum but could not find the answer. my spy already received lots of notifications that he succeeded his missions (countrespying). how to upgrade a unit is simple but it seems to work different with spies.

Same way as other units.

Put them to work.

If they are successful, you will get the option to upgrade them.

You'll get 3 upgrade choices each time they upgrade.

The game will continue to spam you with promotion messages for a spy that has already hit max rank, however.

thanks guys for your info but i only received several times information that my spy was promoted during countrespying and i could not see any way to choose a promotion. with normal units you see the promotion botton highlighted above the unit. when i click on my spy i can see that the bucket for promotion is full 10/10 but no highlighted promotion button

they can only upgrade when they're not occupied i.e. commiting to a mission

u need to promote your spy before you send him to a mission, whilst is on a mission you cant upgrade him even if the notification says so every turn. so basically if your spy got promoted, it happens right after a succesful mission, don't send him back to city or in another 11 turn mission, just promote him, he will spent his turn, and the turn after you can use it again.

Your spy only gets xp from certain missions. The base ones with a 100% chance of success provide no xp, and you only get xp from counter spying if you actually stop someone.

That's if options even appear. I never see spy options even though the game say I can upgrade, right after a successful mission. Something is broken...

When you deploy a spy to another city, you will get bonus experience for each mission you complete, you can upgrade when you reach full experience

yeah I dunno what's up. Same problem here. I've literally never seen the promote button on any of my spies, even on turns they are in between missions. Do I have to send it back to one of MY cities? I keep getting messages saying which spy is ready for promotion but the button never appears. I've tried collapsing and reopening the options on the spy (yes, when not actively engaged in a mission). Any way to post an image of the promotion button on a spy so I know what I'm looking for? I have no problem promoting other units. Spies are the only problem. Playing Standard Rules - does that matter?

If you're playing the game right the AI is going to hate you anyway, so no problem incurring further hate by sharing knowledge among us HI (Human Intelligence).
