Can't launch the DX12 version?
I have the latest driver with a gtx970. It gives an error at launch saying I don't have compatible hardware or something?

It'd help tremendously if you'd bother mentioning the rest of your hardware.. operating system... you know. The basics.
i5 2500k @ 3.7, 16gb 2133mhz ram, and Windows 10 64 bit.
Make sure the game isn't accidentally using your integrated GPU, the GTX 970 should be enough.

Another thing, for DX12, you need to be using Windows 10.

How do I check which gpu the game is trying to use? And how do I change it if it is not using the gtx970?

I see no immediate reason why it wouldn't launch with that hardware to be honest. Just to make sure that DX12 is working as intended in general, you could download one of many DX12 tech demos (quick google gets you there) and see if they also bug out.

Edit: No reason why the iGPU in your 2500K should kick in either - This is something that happens rarely on laptops, not desktops. And typically because of Intel's poor software suites.
I think the game needs a patch. I can run other DX12 stuff just fine.

Edit: Yes, have validated the game files.
DX12 is running for other people, so there's clearly something different (not necessarily faulty) about your system.

Isn't it how it is with the software in general? It runs on some clients perfect, but with some it just does not. Is there a way to debug this?
You can always try the nuclear options.

Try Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove the nvidia driver completely - Then reinstall it cleanly (Make sure you get DDU to block internet access so that Windows Update doesn't interfere)

If that doesn't work try purging all of the settings files in your documents folder (make sure to backup the savegames)

[DX12] ;Throw away all compute dispatches. This is a debugging switch DiscardCompute 0 ;Force d3d debug layer. This is a debugging switch ForceDebugLayer 0 ;If supported, use Root Signature 1.1 (1), or don't (0) AllowRootSig_1_1 1 ;Set DX12 compute queue usage on (1), off (0), or platform default(-1). EnableAsyncCompute -1

this is what I found in the GraphicsOptions.txt in where you mentioned.

Changing this

;Set DX12 compute queue usage on (1), off (0), or platform default(-1).
EnableAsyncCompute -1

to 1, would it make any difference?

Edit:
There is also a part as:
;Submit draws via the DX11 immediate context
DX11_ForceImmediate 1

would this be causing the pain?
Post your system specs from Steam-Help-SYstem Information
hi i have same problem with starting in DX12 with SLI, game always crash in loading sreen with leader after setting up game options before game even start and falls to win with crash report ... do you have any idea what could i do with this issue ...
thx if U can help ...
sys spec
win1064pro
AMD FX8400
MSI 170 Gaming
16Gb RAM 1600
2xMSI GTX960 2Gb OC in SLI
Well for starters - Disable SLI and try and see if it runs.
it runs off course when i disable SLI ...
If you enable Mixed GPU you should then be able to use both of your 960's.
But SLI has to be disabled for Mixed GPU to work.
