I had a map with two large continents, but one of those continents was really 2 linked by a 1 tile wide bridge
In the first game, I explored a long way and never saw a coast. I had restarted with a restart button mod and thought either I made a mistake in settings or the mod was buggy. In the second game, I just started the game again from the main menu until I got a start I liked. But although I found the coast in one spot, I'm in the medieval era with a huge part of the map explored, I've met a number of civs, and it seems like a pangea again, which I really have no desire to play. One of many reasons I am thinking of putting this aside until further patches.
Note--I have edited files that enlarge huge maps to Civ V size. I wonder if that has introduced a problem.
I don't think that would be the cause. I have no mods and no files edited and I have a game going on a Huge map set to Continents and everything on Standard. It's definitely still a Pangea with the other Civs not even all that far from me despite having only 5 opponents on a map allegedly sized for 12.
Ive started countless games on the islands map and it always ends up with 2 or 3 snakey landmasses, some tiny useless islands, and maybe, maybe, 1 circley island just big enough for 3 or 4 cities (which is what i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ want from an island map). Oh and the best part is it often results in multiple unconnected oceans.
i honestly think its just best to set everything to random, that way you can't get let down by your expectations.
