AI Civs won't attack?
Is it just me or does the civs never attack when they declare war? In my last game, most of the AI civs declared war on me but never attacked throught the entire game till I won a science victory. Also, I have never seen a civ build air units. Do they?

what difficulty do you play?

They do attack with units on higher difficulty (but attacking combat AI isn't very good). And I never seen any AI air units even on Diety, hope they will fix that.

I can't get them to attack me.Playing on immortal atm when I attack ghandi I get war weariness up the whazoo and all cities go into revolt.Have the aztects north, america east, and ghandi south all touching borders and nobody will attack

Even On deity they won't attack
The AI in civ 6 can't be worse

Yea they seem to bribe each other into doing Joint Wars but then neither actually has the numbers to beat yours so nothing happens. At least thats what I feel is happening.

The AI parked like 30 units on the border declared war and then did nothing. they only attacked like twice or so and i could defend the whole army and more with 2-3 units and city defenses
hi hi hi :bbamsmily: worst ai... this game man :steamfacepalm:

The AI's failure to attack has convinced me the game isn't worth playing in it's current form. I was playing on Deity level, standard pace, huge map, panangea with 12 civs, playing as Gilgamesh. In about turn 75 I declare war on Ghandi and attack his capital with 6 archers and 2 war carts. He has at least 5 of his special unit elephants right nearby. Slowly my archers bring down the health of his capital turn by turn, but do his elephants attack? No. They move in and out of the city and back and forth around me until eventually I take his capital. What's the point of playing if the AI is so hopeless even on deity? What possible sense of achievement can be had from winning against such total ineptness?

OK, In my prince Germany saved game (industrial era), I had Kongo (midieval era) declare war on me and attacked. They were close by. I wonder if they won't attack crossing oceans?

actually playing on prince as America was attacked twice by Aztecs and once by England and India
Syn Nov 24, 2016 @ 11:39am
They will attack if they have a clear path.
They seem to have trouble with hills/forest and ocean.

I've also had some games where the AI actually does what it is supposed to do.It's a crapshoot what kind of game you will get everytime you start a fresh 1.If you want a challenging game kill all ai units in the beginning of the game so they actually have upgraded units later.

For certain games, AI is everything and for real-time-strategy, AI is everything. I don't understand why these name brand developers can't write/produce logical AI...it's not that hard at all (being a programmer myself for years). The AI Civ games have is based on logic from the 90s, where all the code work is just randomness and handi-capping the human player on higher levels.

If the logic was on point, you won't even have any levels because the AI would play you like another living, breathing, thinking human being and that's per Civ. I don't know if the programmers are just not good, the programmers are being lazy or the programmers/company just don't give a "chit" about quality and just want your hard earned money.

The game is NOT playable as is...actually, the entire Series isn't worth buying anymore. Just get a cracked copy of any new Civ games that come out until the programmers do their job. Don't even buy it on console... If the company wanna keep feeding gamers "chit", then let the game Series die out.

Right now, I have a game saved where the world is one large land mass. I created the map just to force border conflict and you think there's conflict going on? Nope... NOTHING!!! Even when you give another Civ resources to allow them to become more powerful than those around them, no conflict happens.

Civilization defeats the purpose of its own concepts. One of the most lame game series ever made!

its not a war strategy game. War is one way to win, but its the easiest because the AI is so bad, and there is little 'accomplishment' in it. Try beating it at religion on deity, or science, or culture. Religion will make you feel good about the win: its tough at first to even figure out how to GET a prophet so you can HAVE a religion to win with (and no salad workaround here, pick any other faction) while avoiding the ai 'surprise' war.

in fact, the game goes out of its way to punish you for making war. As far as it goes, lame is a great word to describe that entire segment of the game.

Maybe I am not very good at the game yet, but the last one I played had Spain absolutely swarming me on the border we shared. Then he had a city state come at one of my other cities from behind. This was on settler difficulty.

I have read many posts about how the AI sucks at this game, but there are times when I am not seeing it. Sometimes yes, but not always....
