Then I think about how much we gain from being able to attack and move for the religion game on essentially a separate layer. Having cities blocked by troops or making units immune to counter attack by standing them under a military was kind of the height of cheese and didn't make the game more fun.
I think the solution is to have a special Formation command that covers the needed exceptions. Like Conquistadors (and maybe Warrior Monks because it feels thematic) can make formations with other Religious units. And Apostles that get Chaplain (but only if they get that promotion) can form up with military units.
They still do that, especially if they're damaged.
Should we call this another slight oversight on the part of the 6 designers?
I just made peace with Tibet (which has DOWed me 3 times now) and the turn after finished off its misisonary with my Apostle. 'Religious debate.'
Religious units can fight while they stand under military units now. Not sure why you keep saying this.
You can't ATTACK them. Please read what you think you're commenting on before posting anything.
Since I write the comment you originally replied to, I know what I meant and you misunderstood because of my use of the term 'counter attack' or 'move and attack for the religion game'. The added phrase should have made it clear I was referring to religious units in Theological Combat, even if I didn't use precisely the correct term you were expecting.
Please read what you wrote before you try to be condescending again.
