Then again, Civ VI is godly compared to V vanilla...
I'm not gonna get hyped over this yet.
It's just the way firaxis works. They seem to only update the game once per season.
However, I'm going to wait until I see much more before I let myself get excited otherwise the base game becomes unplayable because I want the new features. I'm not there yet and expect to play the base game again over the Xmas holidays, at least once.
And there will always be poosters* who say 'should have been in the base game'. That's not going to change.
*intentional typo ;)
Tooooo true. I love how people will down rate a game because it has dlc. I understand their frustration but this is 2017 and the world is starting to fully realize the amount of profits that video games can bring in. I mean e-sports has it's own channel now!
All we can look foward to in the future is more day1dlc, lootboxes, and ingame currency. It sucks but the sooner we accept it the happier we will be. I mean we cant even get free healthcare but people want free dlc?
De Gaulle was actually an alternate French leader in Civ IV's final expansion "Beyond the Sword", so he could theoretically return.
Did a quick google. Haile Selassie, playable in V, died in 1975, Gaulle in 1970. Datewise it should be possible, though I reckon it'll depend on the offspring of De Gaulle if they'll allow it?
edit: or he was actually already in a civ game, that's good proof too, haha.
The Golden/Dark/Heroic Ages sound great pun kinda not intended..
Not sure about the Loyalty system.. if it works like Civ4 I think.. where culture could flip a city that's not so bad, but if you could do it via spy missions or religion or any active click to win method it could be really bad. I had hoped loyalty system would be between ai and player civs for diplomacy, not a mechanic for taking away your hard earned cities. However, it might be one for taking over low pop cities.. on the border of your lands. In which case.. yeh.. time to absorb the ai spam.
don't know if i'll buy it right away based on the features. but knowing me, i probably will buy it on release day unless there is another game that releases around the same time and catches my attention.
Excited because new expansion.
Disappointed because the base game still has a lot of problems that haven't been fixed and have been known about since release.(My main problems revolving around barbarians and civ ai)
I'll maintain a cautious optimism.
1) They Loyalty feature scares me... the only way I find it difficult to win a game, even now (i.e if i build for war someone wins by culture, if i go culture, someone wins by religion!!!) , so the only stratagy i can win a game is playing wide (i actually enjoy playing wide)... but this new feature sounds like its going to take masssive chunks out of my empire. Something i will not find enjoyable!!!
2) Everyone goes on about fixing the AI i already find it too difficult, and would rather it not get more inteligent
3) Governours.... It sounds like te devs have actually been snooping the boards for this idea, I am sure i have seen 5 or 6 fans talk about in the past they miss the City advisors from Civ 2. Is this not kinda like the same thing?? It would be awesome if the govenours did little video clips again suggesting things like you should build market places, city walls or other points of view they have!!!
4)More about Govenours... Do you think govenours would be moree fun, using made-up people, or more fun real people?? i.e you could have people like Joan of Arc, Mark Antony, Spartucus, Issace Newton, Benjamn Franklin, Winston Churhill (only a PM), i.e. lots of famous people that where not actuall leaders as the govenours... this would give the game more character, having famous people pop up?
5)I said this post is not about leaders, but i really want Ancient Judah/Isreal & Ancient Babylon
The thing that really scares me the most is the Loyalty feature... do you reckon that they will include in the game set-up too turn this feature off?? As i wouldnt want to play with this feature turned on, anyone else agree?
