More often than not the opening trade is gross loss for you but if he is friendly just remove everything but the agreement. If he accepts fine, if not oh well. It's similar to borders. I accept open borders for open borders and even remove gold offered. (I don't know if that gets me points or not) but that's how I negotiate with AI
The only benefit might be in any additional terms agreed to by both parties in the original agreement, and agreeing to a War is an EXPENSIVE item on my part when the other Party is already at War (with Russia in my particular case). It seems like a rather one sided agreement, unless I want to not research Flight myself (in the near future) and hope that he (India) will research it in the near future, so that I get it from his doing the research.
I see very little reason for me to accept this agreement, just like I passed on all the other proposed Wars against Russia (by India, Indonesia, Japan, etc.).
It is just that this was my first offer for a research agreement, ever, playing Civ 6, and I was not sure what it was worth if I accepted it.

The one thing I am not sure about is Peace treaties by your joint ally in a War. How often, after 10 turns go by, will they make peace leaving you alone in the War?
Generally, I fight my wars one on one, and usually I let the other side start the war to avoid any additional warmonger penalties when I take cities from him.
