Are fleets worth it?
So I have a fleet made out of 2 Battleships - this gives one ranged attack at power 80 instead of 2 attacks at power 70...

Is this really better? Let alone significantly better like the "advisor" claimed whyen I first got the ability?

nope. i wait until the AI builds armies and fleets then i kill them off slowly with my forces. 2 battleships at 70 will do more damage then 1 at 80

That's what my gut was telling me...

Thanks for confirming!

No single units are better. The way I use them is basically, build as many units as you can and your army will be super powerful and large, but when the cost is too much or you reach unit cap, start combining the low promoted ones until your army is again cheap. Then build it up again. So essentially use regulars until full then combine to cut the cost and increase power.

As far as pure damage output singles are definately better until at unit cap. However the numbers may be a bit misleading. If you are fighting a navy of any significance you will soon find that an enemy nuclear sub can one shot your single battleship, but your fleet of two can survive to run away or get help to sink the sub. So, in terms of surviving the tougher battles, combine them as soon as you can.

Plus if you have the industrial output to produce a lot of units, combining them means you can bring more power to one place than you could if they were separate. After all, 3 at 80 does better than 3 at 70.

Also by merging a new unit with a rank 4 battleship gets a rank 4 fleet - so you don't have to go around levelling up the new one
