Unit Production Cost - Sugestion
Greetings,

As many of you here, i play civilization since Civ 2. And i would like to start by saying that Civ 6 is an awsome game, shows enormous potential and i love it, but it is not a finished game and needs some things looked at and remade.

My thread is about the cost of unit production. Yes, encampment districts combined with an industrial district mitigates this, but simply put, unit cost is just to high. They take to long to build. Let me explain;

In Civ 5, which to me is the best Civ game to date, you can build such a huge army that you get unit traffic, and that is FUN ! I love building an armada with 10 battleships, 8 Nuclear Subs, 5 Aircraft Carriers fully loaded and other land units all embarked to go kick some other Civ´s ass. But this is not possible in Civ 6. We all know that developers wanted Civ 6 to have less units, but damn... You take to long to build an effective invading army, which makes you not produce other things in your cities, like developing districts...

What is your opinion ? Do you guys think that maybe someone will come up with a MOD that reduces unit production costs ?

Cheers, and thanks for replys

yep, unit take much too long to build, which is strange, since the game forces you into war at every oppurtunity

Nope, i dont think they take too long to build. Maybe you just arent working your tiles or settling cities in a decent place. Or maybe you think an aircraft carrier should only take 2 turns to build.

I know Terry, but i do manage well cities and districts, but still i takes to long. Example, a samurai took 20 turns to build, thats 200 years bro... Too much

And mrmike has a point, the game IS war driven... So you need an efficient military.

Um, I don't think any cost are to much at all. The costs are good to not make you produce 100 units and win by Zerging any enemy.

I really like that everything you build is a choice and option between many things.
If things where popping out every turn......this would just get boring.

Granted. Zerging would ruin it. But that is not what am saying...

You discover a tech, and y the time you finish building an army, its obsolite... Also, to few units... Both players and AI should spawn more units...

THAT's another thing and very much an issue.

There is a surprisingly easy "fix". A mod called "Take your Time". It slows down research for ALL (not just you), and gives you a game where you get to play the whole thing!

I highly recommend it!

But if you settle at decent places, have the right policies, gold and faith coming in, selecting the right tiles to work in each city, etc etc.... There are so many ways to plop up some armies (with Gold and faith it's insane), I think the more you get deeper in the game, the less units you build (you buy them or earn them). Building stuff is mostly districts, wonders, settlers, stuff like that. Armies are easily obtained other ways than building them one by one in your cities.

Hey Abalister,

I do all that. But what am saying is, you loose to much time building an effective army. I use Divine Church civ to spawn units like crasy and the Wonder Venisian Arsenal to get two ships when i build one, but still, you loose almost 300 years betweem building and moving an army to attack position

The thing is that the game is all about wide empires. With more cities dedicated to build units you get more units over time even though the production is slow. And by prioritizing gold you can also buy units, which is necessary if you need units fast. And i think the game needs better ways of making money, or making it cheaper to buy units. But maybe there is a mod that cuts the unit buying cost in half, which would make a lot more sense.

Hey MaxDoom,

Correct, a good MOD would fix this. We can use the "Divine Church" to purchase units with faith like crazy, but that means building a civ with focus on faith, and i dont like doing that, i aim for gold and science...

Yes, they do. And they are much smarter in most their attacks.
I like mods, but that CQUI messes with way to much and have never been very stable. The Mod works but kinda fights with alot of the core civ mechanics. Play without it.
