Gameplay Summary Stats
Perhaps one of the few things I miss from Civ V was the global info table that gave you an idea of how you were doing versus your opponents. Although, I wish this table were more dynamic, giving your more data as your civilization advances or the more spies you earned. Not sure why Civ VI didn't inlcude anything like this (maybe it doesn't need to) but I'm a data nut so I had to find another way.

Turns out you can go to Documents/MyGames/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/Logs and there you will find dozens of Excel files that can give you the behind-the-scenes numbers powering your game. Most of these aren't that useful, so I open 'Player_Stats.csv' which aggregates most of the useful information like population, gold, productivity, etc.

I've made a customized Excel file in which I copy all of the Player_Stats data into after each play. Keep in mind, this data refreshes every time you start Civ VI so if you want to make a consistent snapshot of your entire game, you have to copy and paste this data after each session. From this, I was able to make some pivot tables and charts to see how my civilization developed over time compared to the world's other countries.

Making these charts (any ideas how I can share them in these forums?) shows historic events like major battles, economic recessions, and technological achievements. This may not be something everyone wants to see but I have a background in development economics so I just can't get enough of this stuff. At the minimum, it would be nice if 2K Games integrated an in-game mechanism to show population, GDP, GDP per capita, active duty soldier count (found this in Player_Stats, btw), etc. This could be a community builder as players could compete to see who created a civilization with the biggest economy, biggest army, most cities, etc.

If not, we can do it ourselves by using Player_Stats and Excel! Spolier alert, however! By looking up this data in Player_Stats, you kind of get a leading edge on your opponents, so keep that in mind before you try this.

Let me know what you think.

Excellent find! I too love endless charts and logs and stats. Now I've found a pet project (or 10) for the next few weeks
