Can you speed up production??

It's been a while since I had played previous Civ games and one thing I was wondering is if you can speed up production with gold etc, even on the easiest settings it just about impossible to beat the AI at building certain wonders.

You can speed up Wonder construction by harvesting resources that yield production(Forests, Stone etc.), through Great Engineers (Only 3 of them have this ability) or by using China's worker ability. (Unique to China and only applies to Ancient/Classical Wonders.)

There's more luck than skill involved building Wonders above Emperor difficulty. If the AI wants it there's just about no way for you to get it.

and also with trade routes that start in that city.
