Thinking of going science victory with Gilgamesh. Is it worth it? Should I go for a different victory?
Just want your opinions on it.

Gilgamesh is pretty much set for a domination victory. I would choose another Civ (any other Civ except Scythia actually), if you're set on doing a science victory.

Science is the easiest way to win the game imo. Gilgamesh is pretty good at dominating early on but if you're beyond warcarts you might aswell go science

Gilga is actually quite good for a Science victory... the Zigs help of course.

If you use the war carts as a deterrent early on, you can then pursue a Science victory with ease.

Easiest way to win any Victory is Domination. Conquer new cities rather than build them from scratch.

Gilgamesh is perfect for warmongering towards a Science Victory... Plus the Ziggurats of course but you will most likely find working mines more important at all times.

If you're not keen on war then I would say Arabia is probably the better bet with their bonuses to Science production. The Madrassa is also a better University.

Aztecs are also a great choice if you can get them. You can spam cities and rush campus districts with builders.

Germany's unique district and imperial cities allow you to build more districts faster which is great for any victory.

The last two are extremely versatile with any winning condition and are prime canidates for dominating opponents.

Sumeria is the first time since the Winter 2016 Patch I've managed to out pace the AI in science. Try to snag a Great Scientist and/or Great Engineer for a quicker Space victory.

Sumeria. Earth. Deity. (Africa start)

Gilgamesh is in my opinion the best for science victory.
As Gilgamesh I never build Zigs, instead I conquer one continent, leave an area unsettled for barbarian camp spawns to get the goodie-hut boost.

what the eff? is it worth it? it's a freaking video game why wouldn't you try it and see what happens if that's what you want to do? i don't understand what you are asking for, a step by step blueprint? and if that's how you play i'd say don't bother
justinsane11 Jan 19, 2017 @ 12:30pm
how does one person saying that gilgamesh is the best for a science victory in my opinion, and another saying nope he's set up for domination give you an answer? and how was it not obvious that you'd get answers from all over the spectrum.

and even moreso to piggyback off my last post whether or not it's hard or easy if that's what you want to do why not just try it? there must be something i'm missing. hell even if the consensus was that gilgamesh is the worst at getting a science victory, wouldn't it be fun to try anyways? what's the worst that could happen? you lose?

way to just set up another forum for people to post there lame ass playthroughs

There's an edit feature on the forums. It's better forum etiquette to edit your post to add things to it, rather than posting twice within a minute, or three times within 5.

Thank you for the responses guys (except justin's and anthony's), going to focus on a science victory and maybe go for a bit of domination :P. Thanks for the help, quite new to Civ in general and most likely going to use the information supplied here, so thanks once again.

Why wouldn't you build Ziggurats?! They're awesome. I Ziggurat spam along rivers (flatland). Not only do they give you extra culture but you get tourism from them in the late game. Even though you may not be pursuing a culture victory you need enough to prevent the AI winning with culture.

Also if you see from the screen I eliminated France and The Aztecs. That left a lot of room for barbs to spawn, but eventually on an Earth map CSs and AI will take the land as it is sparse

If you work Ziggurats you can't work mines. And production is king in Civ 6. It's an opportunity cost thing.

I'd much rather get extra science working campus projects and get the overpowered great Scientists.

Plus land adjacent to rivers are perfect for Lumber Mills which really help with Cities low on hill tiles.

@ blkbutterfly I'm just amazed that you have 4 allies. I always have several civs unhappy with me and I don't go to war really ever.

@Justin I see your point. Take chances and see what happens thats the fun of the game win or lose. Yes. But this is a forum for open discussion about Civ 6. If you think the conversation is stupid why include yourself. If you do be respectful dude.
