What happened to Inquisitors, where have they gone?
Last few games no inquisitors available. Apostles and Missionaries yes, but no Inquisitors.
Inquisitive minds want to know.

did you happen to hire an apostle and hit the launch inquisition button?
I could but didn't, Inquisitors remind me of my childhood... and I miss them.

Is this the new way to spawn Inquisitors? Before it was always a menu choice... .. .

You have to do that ONCE then after that you can always buy one for faith like the others. Its on the menu, but only after that.

  • Buy an apostle with faith.
  • Hit the apostle's Launch Inquisition button.
  • Watch the apostle disappear in a cloud of sacrifce.
  • Find one of your cities with majority religion, holy site and temple.
  • Note inquisitors now added as a faith purchase menu choice.
  • Enjoy inquisiting.

Probably best kept in your own city centers. Theological combat is risky and unnecessary for an inquisitor. Some players let all visiting apostles and missionaries expend their conversion charges and then eradicate the whole lot with a single inquisition charge.

No intent to make you feel stupid. Apologies if it came over that way.
Just a fellow civver (and simmer) helping out another. :)

Inquisitors can fight just fine as long as you understand them. They get a hefty bonus when the fight takes place in their own territory, making them as tough as Apostles (not counting outside bonuses).

You're right that burning one charge to clear multiple AI missionaries/apostles is efficient, but winning a theology fight has a far wider reaching bonus than just purging one city, and is worth considering if your city is near another empire or your homeland isn't already strongly converted to your religion.

How right you are...
I rustled up a bunch and they cleaned up... .. .
...some sneaky heathens had worked on my home-front while I was disestablishing their puny empires, damnation handy these inquisitors.
