Whatever happened to Civilization Online?
I recently found some articles about it, and it seemed really interesting, but there was nothing really definitive or recent. The latest update on their Facebook after almost 2 years of silence said they were closing their Korean servers and were "Looking to open servers in China". Will the game only release in Asia? Will it even release at all? Does anyone even know anything about it?

(I posted here as I figured other Civ communities would be more dead and as a result less frequented by developers or anybody who could shed light on this mystery. If you want me to remove the thread I will if you feel it was placed incorrectly or is spam.)

Civ World?

I was lucky to be in the public beta. The game was as addictive as any Civ but it didn't really work as a MMO Sim game. People discovered exploits faster than Firaxis could adress them. It shuttered eventually :steamhappy:

The whole plan in the first place was only to release in Asia, AFAIK.

Had fun and felt more like a boardgame with mini-games, war, economics and teamwork. Games tend to be only a week long tho before the endgame for the server was unlocked. To be succesfull you had to invest more time active playing then any other browsergame I knew, and after you went to sleep you might jst come back into finished server and start over, all ready hours behind. Forge of Empires comes to mind when I think about a CIV online browsergame.

It looks like Civ World 2.0. Good idea to develop and test it in a foreign/non-English market first :steammocking:

IDK how I completely missed any news about this. I didn't know it existed.

It wasn't reported much in the west because there were never plans to release it in the west.
