I solved it. I turned off breakability of weapons in the menu, put fighter with armor 10 and elf into corner in each fight. I increased armor to 10 using the spell Fastness of Body of elf. Both were armed pickaxe. Funny that pickaxe is doing blunt damage. Then I increased speed of fight to maximum and let automatic fight to do the battles - 1 fight usually took 3-4 minutes. Sometimes they did not make it so I had to reload. If the developers think that it is a way how the end game should be played then god save us. It ruined whole feeling of game.
I actually used magic to get past the skeleton fights. Chain and Manacle is a wonderful spell, as it works on skeletons, is pretty cheap, lasts until the end of battle and anyone under the effect of that spell counts as incapacitated, so if you cast it on every skeleton, you win. It made some ridiculous battles in the endgame actually bearable.
I thought the skeletons had a 50% damage reduction like zombies against thrust damage, just that skeletons also have it against slashing attacks. Anyway, they could stand to be nerfed somewhat, maybe less LE and damage reduction just so the fights don't take forever. The temple of the nameless is hard and long enough as it is.
Btw,weapons with Blunt damage aren't really inferior compared to the other types, they just lack the upgraded versions like Waraxe and the like, also most of the blunt weapons the enemies drop are Clubs, which are about as good as the normal one-handed Sword and thus pretty bad compared to axes.
The best mundane weapon in the game is actually a "baton" that does blunt damage, Herd of Oxen, which you can buy at the market and it's also pretty cheap. You could easily equip your whole party with them, but the average player will likely just stick to Axes and Swords.
1) There are not any magic weapons - so why to invest skills into blunt weapons?
2) Once you do not have skills you can not attack them as chance to hit them is low or not existing.
3) You can not hit them with magician or witch, and you can not respec your fighter + because I am on level 9 I can not expect to increase their character level anymore.
4) Chain and Manacle is perfect, the only problem is that since patch 1.04 you need Thonys herbs to meditate with witch or elf and due to possible bug I have not been able to find or buy any - I have visited 2 herbalist and went to collect herbs something like 40 times when I collected anything but Thonys herb - no thonys no magic potions or meditation - so simple.
You said you have only 5 members of the party, why? Did you lose someone? If yes, you can ressurect them at the temple in the city. Or you can even make a new character to add to your party at any temple. New characters start at level 5 and need only 50 XP for the next level, so you can make a decent Warrior with a good Batons skill or a Domination Magician/Silvan Elf that's good at the Chain and Manacle spell. You could potentially replace some of your own characters or even your entire party, but I know that's not the perfect solution..
You can convert any mundane weapon into a magical weapon by praying for a miracle at the temple of Rondra. Plus Herd of Oxen is better than any magical weapon I found. Same for Andergaster, the best two-handed sword.
Hmm, I haven't played the game since the last patch, but you can just rest until they have full AE, then engage those skeletons? Unless you never increased their AE at level ups, you should have enough AE to last you through those four fights. Or just make another Domination focused Magician at the temple.
Btw, I think I found like 2 Thonny's herbs during my last playthrough, but that was before the patch. I didn't exactly go out of my way to search for them though, since they were useful only for Alchemy and herbalists were expensive. Try to look for them at the Market Stalls maybe? That's where the best items are usually located.
Up to now I have not experienced any problems so if you encountered such opponent sooner in the game you could have distribe your skill points differently.
As for conversion into magical weapon there is funny bug. I actually did it for a rapier and I got "unbreakable" rapier. I am not sure whether it is connected with patch 1.04, but in Blood Pinnacles it broke in the middle of the fight. I let the smith repair it and he returned ordinary rapier, which was not magical anymore. So my figher is using 2-hander of the Wind from BOD, which makes 8 - 18 damage and is unbreakable and weight only half.
I used transversallis to warp out of the dungeon for refills. I will try to buy Herd of Oxen. before I go there again.
BTW, do you know what is a black statue for ? I have it from level 1 and have not been able to use yet.
Thanks for pointing outI Chain and Manacle. I have not been using it so far.
Finally I managed to buy Herd of Oxen - back in Kvirasim :) Starting town. And I found a new bug. Herb market is not selling herbs in Kvirasim.
Anyway finally I found 1 Thonys flower on the way back to Kvirasim - my first one - just before near game end. Unbelievable.
That magical weapon returning as a non-magical one sounds like a bug. Btw, I thought magical weapons were unbreakable by default. Guess not... well, there are much less enemies immune to non-magical weapons than in Blade of Destiny, so you don't really need one that much. I think the only ones are the Hestoth and Ghost summons.
You don't need that statue, I don't know if that secret door to lower levels opens without it or not, but there's no further use for it as far as I know.
Yes, I always bought Herd of Oxen in Kvirasim at the start of the game, I think it was in Gashok too. It's a one-handed weapon, so you can use a shield with it. Don't know about the herbs, I always just gathered my own, did you find it while gathering herbs or in a shop?
And np, Chain and Manacle is the best spell in the game :)
I manage to hire NPC Korima - a fighter and I killed the final boss. But I could not have finished the game due to a bug. While you have a NPC in the game, the game does not allow Igramosh to join after final battle. So I am in the last room and whenever I try to leave a dungeon it says - You should not leave Igramosh here. I kicked out Korima (funny I have to wait I week and refuse to pay her another week salary because there is not an option to kick someone out in the dungeon), but I can not find Igramosh anyway. So I will have to kick out her before last fight and repeat it.
One more thing - final boss was a peanut in comparison with party of skeleton warriors. He has not any resistance like skeltons.
