I've been putting Archolos off for a long time... But recently I got bored and I didn't know what to do, so I thought I'd give it a try and if I don't enjoy it, I'll just turn it off...
Let me tell you - Trying Archolos was one of the best decisions of my life, this is the absolute peak of Gothic games. I have to say that I'm a big fan of the Gothic series and I've finished all games, but I just couldn't tear myself away from this one.

World:
The island of Archolos is big and full of things, mysteries, treasures and quests... But it is not too big to have deaf unused places in it.
The city itself is the largest that has ever been in the Gothic series so far and it is also very balanced, some might say that it is unnecessarily too big because during the game you will often run up and down the city, but it fits the story very well, so for me it was okey.

Sotry:
The story has a simple plot and doesn't play on anything, but that's exactly what every Gothic game has. I think that's exactly what everyone who loves Gothic wants, no unnecessary complicated political plots and lengthy solutions...No, Archolos goes straight to the point, all things are presented to the main character straight in the eyes and the decisions are also very simple in most cases.
But there is nothing wrong with that, in my opinion it gives the story a tremendous power, nothing needs to be overplayed or pressured on emotions, but despite all that, the story gradually progresses until the very end, when the real weight of what Marvin experiences in the course of the game falls on you.
Characters are also very well written... I would say well written in a Gothic way...
Here devs really showed they are also big Gothic fans and took a lot from the original games and they did a very good job to keep the atmosphere of the game as similar to the original as possible.

Music:
I don't even have enough words for this masterpiece, the music is somply amazing. Props to Kamil Jędrzejewski and Andante’s Inferno orchestra for amazing work.
If you liked the music of the original Gothic, don't despair, the entire soundtrack is based on original music by Kai Rosenkranz, who composed the music for the original Gothic.

I love Chronicles of Myrtana.

This game is a no brainer to play if you love Gothic series. Just remember you need to disable this setting in SystemPack.ini to improve your FPS;; Disable_D3DV8CAPS_WRITEONLY = 1 change 1 to 0, save and enjoy.
