This Guide is tested and working, you have 2 variants for getting better visuals they are nearly identical but you can use whatever you want.

1. ReShade
Only disadvantage to brighten up the game it brightens evrything UI/GUI it's a postprocessing Method so no other Way but i tried my best :)

Download the configured files and drag and drop the items to
Fable Anniversary\Binaries\Win32 Folder
Not the folder itself only the insides ;)

You can see the Map is brighter but not unreadable also the Menus looking brighter xD

2. Steam Workshop mod
A little tricky to install but not impossible :D

0) You need to download the free DLC for modding first

1) subscripe to this Workshop mod (easy)

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=345693785

2) go to your SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\288470
288470 is the Steam ID for Fable Anniversary.

3) this mod has Workshop ID 345693785 so you should see that folder and open it.

4) inside the folder 345693785 there must be a file named 547514357933381515_legacy.bin

5) Copy that file to: Fable Anniversary\WellingtonGame\UserData
(it's the folder where steam downloaded your games)

6) Rename the copied *****_legacy.bin file to: WELLINGTON_POSTPROCESS.UPK
(be sure that you have enabled show File Extension in Windows you MUST enable that first !!!!!!!!)

7) Make this file ReadOnly / Write Protected.
steamapps\common\Fable Anniversary\WellingtonGame\UserData\WELLINGTON_POSTPROCESS.UPK

(If you forget this the following will happen: the game launches and load the modded file and delete it... I don't know why but if you quit and restart Fable next time it can't find any mod files and loads original unmodded files.... )

8) Now everytime you launch your game (modded option via steam launch) everything looks like it should.

Have fun ^_^

PS. You can use both Methods at the same time.
That way you can launch the game normaly and have ReShade On/Off
Or you start the Modded Game and toggle ReShade Off (else everything got way to shiny :D )
ReShade toogle On/Off is Picture Up on Keyboard
ReShade Options Menu is Pos1 to close just press Esc until it gets closed.

Thanks man ! Just started playing and was exactly what I was looking for. Removed sharpening and HDR from your preset since it was hurting my eyes but colors are much better.

Did you have the .ini modifications active on all your screenshots ?

Too bad the workshop mod seems so complicated but might give it a try.

All Filters are active in my screenshots (ReShade On+HDR)
I have an old IPS Monitor and even if it's calibrated it is much darker than newer Displays.
BUT i don't like Monitors with brightness turned to the max.

If you read carefully i have write informations under every Picture so you know what effect or mod is used

You need to move the mouse while viewing the pictures to see the text on the left bottom.

Makes sense about your screen. I have a not so recent 144htz monitor so ended up removing the sharpening and some of the brightness (I don't like high brightness either). The colors are much warmer now and not as yellow-ish as when I only edited the .ini by myself previously.

It's a lot easier on the eyes thanks to you. Now I just wish the cam stopped panning in/out so often but feels great otherwise. :)

In Reshade menu you can choose which filters you want enabled. It's the Home key to open it (llok up what key that is if you don't have a US keyboard). Knochenjonny's presets will be ticked you can just tick/untick what you prefer.

FYI, You can examine the post-processing settings in the UPK file by using the Unreal Editor for Fable Anniversary.

Within the Content Browser, go to packages -> WellingtonGame ->Content -> UIOrgUPK -> WELLINGTON_POSTPROCESS.

Right click on WELLINGTON_POSTPROCESS and click “Fully Load”.

Right click desired Post Process Chain tile and click Edit Using Post-process Editor.

Thank you, works great for me. I increased the brightness a little and reduced the saturation in the filters, and now the game looks perfect.
