Fishers Creek Bug
So, apperently the Fishers Creek Bug, where the Fishing Contest wont start after doing the Prequest is still in the Game. Noice. I demand a fix! That's the only Silverkey I am missing right now.
And yes, I tried to start the Quest even before Bargate Prison, so it should have been available at that point.
It's just annoying that this hasn't been fixed by now and it forces me to play the Game again and in a specific style to avoid this bug.

And I bet I am not the only one facing this bug right now.

I was able to do Fisher Creek no problem. What issues are you experiencing, out of curiosity??

The Event "Fishing Competition" simply doesn't start/appear. When I go to the Fishers Creek there is noone, nothing, no Fisher, no other NPCs and I didn't even got the message that the Event started at some point in the first place.
But like I said: That bug is as old as the game.

YOu get the silver key without even doing the contest, just fish in the three spots
Shadow[Ger] Sep 27, 2014 @ 2:07pm
Wrong. You also get a silver key from the Contest.

Ah, I didn't know that

The more you know...

Got the same problem. Since i tried to get EVERYTHING at the game, it's really depressing i can't open the last silver box because 1 silver key is missing.
Hope it will get fixed somehow.

Hi guys,

I believe it's possible to 'scare' the Fisherman off before the contest starts, and thus leaving you unable to do the contest - you can scare him off by either doing damage to him, or by sleeping in his bed before the contest happens (if you do this, you'll tresspass and scare him off).

I have also seen some people report this issue when they hadn't ever visited the Fisherman before, but visited him at a late stage in the game. Again, there may be something going on there.

As far as I remember the team weren't able to replicate this issue when it was last reported - but I'll see if there's anything else I can find out about it.

Cheers,
Hohbes

Let me fire up the game later and check it out, I fished there and helped him out without accidentally hitting him, and he said that he'd re-open the contest.

OK, just went back there, I've done the Arena and am ready to do Bowerstone North Quests, and The Contest is going on at Fisher Creek.
There are a few people there, and the Old Guy that I just talked to and he told me the rules of the fishing contest.

I'm playing a good character

I didn't damage him and I didn't sleep in his bed. I also visited him at about the same stage as Spocks Toupee where the Quest should still be available.
So... bug if you ask me.

I initially helped him out towards the very beginning of the game, then I never came back until gaining access to Bowerstone North.

If that helps the devs any, maybe the Fishing contest "expires" if you don't initiate it early on in the game?

Even the scaring him off part could be just taken out of the game if you ask me. If I recall correctly that could also happen if you use a spell in the area while he is there. So if you for example missclick and use the Lightning he can be scared off as well. That would pretty much ♥♥♥♥ your whole savegame up, if you are aiming for 100% completion and didn't notice it. Or if you don't even know that you can scare him off anyway. Just sayin'

I actually had this bug on my first 360 playthrough. I was only able to fix it by laoding an earlier save and/or starting a fresh game. It never happened again on the 360 or the PC after that. However I done this early in the game so it wasn't a big loss for me.

It's not a 'scaring' him away bug, it genuinely just doesn't trigger. You go in, fish, get the golden carp, leave, run back and bam! Nobody is there.

However I hope that you can do it on another playthrough anyway, plus, just means you get to play it again! :D
