Hobbe Cave Quest Boast Glitch

So I took the Hobbe Cave quest where you have to rescue the boy from being sacrificed to the Nymph and bring him back to his grandmother. I took three boasts: Without a Scratch, No Protection and Sacrifice Innocent. Sacrifice Innocent requires that you replace the boy with another sacrifice for the Nymph. I used the Bandit you can rescue from Hobbes in the cave to replace the boy, fought my way out, and went to turn in the quest only to see that I had failed the Sacrifice Innocent boast.

I have zero idea why I failed this boast and I didn't make redundant saves for this quest, since I never encountered issues with it on The Lost Chapters. Short of reloading before I ever started the quest it doesn't appear that I have any options. The only thing out of the ordinary I did while completing the quest is that I ran into the room where the Bandit is first found on my way out.

I'm withholding a fair amount of my anger and frustration at this glitch. I spent about two hours on this one quest simply reloading checkpoints because of instant hits and camera issues which made combat against the Hobbes truly nightmarish, particularly if you're trying to not get hit ONCE, only to see that I FAILED one of the boasts when according to my own past experiences and research done on the internet about the quest, I by all means should have NOT failed it!


I'd have to guess that when I went back into the room where the Bandit is first kept, something went screwy and it didn't count him as being sacrificed to the Nymph. But that's about all I can glean out of it.

I don't know if this makes any difference, but I also did the Sacrifice Innocent boast and managed to get it. However, I freed the bandit immediately afterwards by attacking the nymph and proceeded with the rest of the quest normally. That sucks though, that quest is a pain in the a** with the extra boasts.

Yeah it really is, one of the harder quests to do if you don't have cheesy spells like Infernal Wrath or a really high strength to just massacre them. I'll try attacking the Nymph on my next run-through, I want to squeeze as much gold out as possible and apparently you can still get the Innocent boast even if you kill the Nymph, which also gives you the boast for killing the cave's inhabitant.
