Game Crashes Upon Start Up
Not half way in, not game freezing, just game CRASHING at startup, like before you get to the menu.

try running it directly from the .exe in the binaries folder.. If that fails you may need to re install it. Others with same issue did this to fix it, bad download most like.

Seemed like people have having this issue, but the forums seem so bogged down with other issues, I wanted to bring this into it's own discussion.

When I start, in the background I get a blank dialog box with a blank button. Clicking it (or pressing space on the blank black screen) goes to the sound of footsteps on a white screen and a figure coming out of fog and then:

If this was in Linux, I'd probably have it working by now. I made sure my drivers and MSupdate were up to date, except for some optionals. Tried checking compatibilty, which recommended XP SP2 settings, which didn't work.

All Files Validated, not a bad download. Tried running directly from the EXE, that's how I found the minidump files.

I have this too. What happens when you guys right click the .exe and run as Admin? If I run as admin it still crashes, but this time it complains about having "no disk in drive J:"?? No idea why, that's my SD card slot. Tried putting a card in, no difference.

I also have this problem. Reinstalled 2 times once on HDD and once on SSD, same problem. Game doesn't start at all and gives me a .exe stopped working. Haven't even seen anything from the game yet.

I'm curious as to how some of the people on the forums posted about this and are now in the game. Anyone able to comment on how they resolved this issue?

Running as admin helped none. No disk errors for me though.

i had / have this. work around was creating a new user account on my PC, and running steam as that user. (that way when fable runs it also runs as the other user). To run an app as another user Hold shift on it and right click. Failing that you can actully login to your PC as the new account and run steam normally.
skitz0frantic13s Sep 13, 2014 @ 7:33am
Tried it as admin, and a different user. Deleted the local profile. Still Crashes
skitz0frantic13s Sep 13, 2014 @ 7:45am
I think the local profile i deleted may have been my TLC profile. I don't think FA is even getting to the point of creating a profile...
skitz0frantic13s Sep 13, 2014 @ 7:58am
ummm... Show of hands, who is using redirected profiles?
I think this might be the culprit, why some people creat a new profile and it works, etc.
I am fearful of attempting this on my machine, because of my network set-up.

Thanks for the tip MaggY, unfortuanately it didn't work for me. I hope they fix this soon before I submit a refund ticket.

Same problem, game crashes after gamedevs logos. Damn. Someone can at least play with bugs and fps drops, I cant play all
Optimal Sep 13, 2014 @ 8:18am
I can't even get to gamedev logos. I press play and 2 seconds later it crashes. I only get to see black screen.
skitz0frantic13s Sep 13, 2014 @ 8:19am
I don't even get game devs. If someone could confirm/disprove the redirected my documents, i would appreciate it.
