The Trader escort quest is bugged

At the start of the quest you get the option to escort a third guy and thats the option i chose.
The later on the two others died by bandits but i did not get a "quest failed" screen by this point.
I went on to the area with the cave troll and told the last guy to wait by the path to the "troll spawn"
I killed the troll and after the cutscene i got a message saying that the quest failed because all the traders was dead,
but the last one where still alive with full health!

I have tried to redo the troll fight.. but again i get the "quest failed" screen.
Also the game saved just at the entrance to this area..

So basicly i have to find a fix for this.. or all my progrerss is lost..

I remember this being a problem in the original, that 3rd trader is supposed to turn into a werewolf like 1/3 of the way through the quest.

If the guy doesn't turn, which oddly, he sometimes didnt (he would be attacking your guys too) or the traders died before he turned, it'd bug out and do this.

Mine bugged out after two of the traders had died before getting to the camp site. We rested up, went through the gate, I tell him to wait by the gate as I kill the first set of bandits, everything is fine. After I collect him to move him forward to the next safe zone - the quest card comes up and says that the quest was failed because all of the traders I was transporting had died. HE WAS AT FULL HEALTH!

Also creating a new character bugged out as you then can't select the new character or delete them. I can't seem to find a fix and I don't want to have to uninstall then reinstall the game

You know you can make the traders wait for you, go to the next zone, kill all baddies, go back to traders, tell them to follow you, rinse and repeat.

Yeah I ended up just restarting and not letting the third guy join me and I'm now all the way up to the first fight with Jack of Blades :)

I usually trade between shops starting asap with apples and work my way up and get the best weapons and armor before doing this, Run straight through, don't kill anything but the troll to get through to barrow fields, if you do it quickly enough the 3rd trader won't turn into a werewolf. If you do it any other way the trader turns .

Just if anyone else comes here wondering: the first two guys are the ones supposed to live. The third one is bitten and will turn into a werewolf at some point this making you have only 2 traders alive. If both are dead, you have none.
