Fable Anniversary controller problem

When I purchased this game, I didn't have a game controller. I quickly realized that playing via keyboard/mouse was not fun at all, and I brought an XBox type game controller; I set the options up to use that controller. When I'm in the menu, the A, B, X, Y buttons work, but I have to push upwards to move down through menu items and push downward to move up. When I then get into the game, the movement controls don't work. The A button will skip a scene, and the X button will cause my character to throw a punch, but that's about all that works. Note: I'm playing on a PC, and I did check the controller's properties and everything works properly there, so it isn't that it's a bad controller. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks a bunch.

Have you gone to the microsoft website and downloaded the free patch for xbox 360 controllers yet? It's a free and safe download so I think give that a shot and see if it works after that.

Did downloading the patch work for you? I am having the same issue.
