Will Not Start!! Please Help!!!

I purchased this about a week ago because I have always loved the Fable franchise. But after scouring through many threads and forums I can't find any solutions to this problem. Upon clicking play through steam and selecting launch game a small window appears and dissapears just as quickly. Nothing I've tried has worked so far, please help a fellow Fable lover so I can finally play!

If you are using a PC (if not then you are on your own): Go to the your steam library, right click on the game title and click properies. Then browse local files. This should take you to the game's download files located on your hard drive. You'll see fable.exe - make a new short cut. Drag the new short cut to your desktop. Right click it and go to properties. Under the compatiblity tab check the box that says "Run program in compatiblity mode". That should fix it. Then again though, Fable is pretty buggy.
