Why wouldn't I marry Lady Grey?
I get that she is evil, but every other option sucks. Because rest is just random NPC's who behave in the exact same way, you may as well pick them out on random from a fish bowl.
Lady Grey, however, is the only marriage option that has some background to it. I mean once she marries you, she behaves no different than any other spouse, but at least there is some story to it.

There are other girls that would be valid alternatives, but you do not have the option to marry them. For example your all time rival Whisper, could have been an option if you choose to spare her. Another great option would have been Emily, but she just appears as a random NPC in adulthood and then disappears right after.

But the most infuriating unavailable option is Lady Sophia. Yes the prostitute from the Darkwood Bordello. She often makes comments that she would love to marry someone like the hero but can't due to her profession. However, why do I say she is such a great option? Because she could have been a loophole into opening the Demon Door at the Grey House when choosing to expose Lady Grey. You see the Demon Door never says you must marry Lady Grey specifically, but demands that you marry a "posh one with a title." And Lady Sophia is a posh one with a title, so she could have been an alternative for all good heroes to obtain Ronok. In fact it could have been done so that Lady Grey had to be exposed to marry Lady Sophia as then she would move into the manor along with you once you become mayor.

But such as it is I do marry Lady Grey when I play the game, because she is the only option that stands out. The only other alternative would be to remain single, because I simply cannot pick a random NPC as my spouse. And while I perform an evil act that way, I don't really care as the morality system is just so rudimentary.

That is the answer. The whole marriage system is rudimentary. It's an almost 20 year old game. It's just something small for the whole role play aspect, it's not meant to be some major story component

I married the mean old grandma from the Hobb quest. I had her follow me all the way back to town. Might be some other goofy people to marry in the game, idk.

You can marry more than once though. Just have to have houses. And get your wives to fight xD

This reminds me, her mayor house is not even a real house :steamfacepalm:
yeah it has a special sword but you can get it just the same from ratting her out.

you know back on xbox original I think it was glitched I could never get her to actually marry me. I could make her love me and show her the ring but it wouldn't do anything.

Apparently, you have to fight Thunder in order to marry her. She won't accept a ring. I could be confused on the game of the year version but yeah.
