Is it still worth playing this game?

Given that Fable 2 and 3 are out, and now backwards compatibility from Xbox One to Xbox 360 is around, I am wondering if it makes sense to play the original Fable.

Started a new game (first time ever) the other day, and didn't really feel convinced, so thought I'd get some input from current players.

Not playing fable is like not playing Halo or Call of Duty. Its a casual RPG classic. Fable 2 and 3 are good as well, but fable 1 is almost a must play. Not saying its the best RPG ever, but its one of those basics that should be experienced. Its the foundation for a lot of origional ideas, and offers a rather diffrent RPG experience.

imo it is the best. It beats The Withcer 3 for example in any possible way (apart from raphics)

As much as i love fable 1 for introducing me to RPGs there really is no comparison.

I finally bought this one, it's on sale. I already had it for the 360, and didn't want to drop full price on the game that I've purchased multiple times lol

I know right?! It beats Witcher 3 in everything INCLUDING graphics.

Seriously though... I don't get how Witcher 3 won GotY. I normally really enjoy RPGs, and I have tried every single Witcher game as they came out because people rant about them and I find them impossible to enjoy... obvoiusly I am in the minority, it is just unusual for me to be in the minority regarding RPGs...

I also didn't manage to enjoy the Witcher games, as I really can't connect with Geralt's character. I find it impossible to play a game if I cannot "be" the protaganist, and I despise Geralt's lack of morals, his deadpan voice and general blandness.

I read the first three Witcher books, and in the books he is a completely different type of character, very principled.

that's very weird, fable's protagonist is an embodiment of blandness. game just keeps saying to you that you are a hero, that's it. hero this, hero that... and what's even weirder... in fable the protagonist is voiceless at all. and it's not wrong or right... that's how this game meant to be.

i think, it's a perfect example of someone subconsciously (or intentionally?) taking "warm fuzzy feeling" experienced while playing for quality.

I'm still playing it since I bought it, having fun. But I think it might be the nostalgic value that keeps me going. Still though, snag it for the sale price; you might not enjoy it as much for the ful price tag.

Also: I think this is the best of the Fable games, so that's something to consider too.
