Please NOTE - Fable 2 was never released on PC!
I saw some people in reviews asking why Steam doesn't have Fable 2. I thought I'd just throw a post on this board and say - to my ever-lasting sorrow - Fable 2 was a console game. Tragic as it is, Maybe someone could post a nice simple version of this so people don't wonder what happened and make it sticky. I wish you all a good day and great life. :)

Ports exist.

I want to play fable 2 but I'm not buying an Xbox. So my options are wait for a PC port/remaster, or play emulated, and emulators feel super ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awkward and annoying to me.

Sorry if this seems mean (not my intention) but I think it's silly to say "this game was never a PC game so it can never be ported to PC" lots of games do so. Persona 4 is one example, Digimon Cyber Sleuth is another, TLOU was playstation exclusive for 10 years, I'm sure other people have more examples.

The reason we won't get a port is probably because Lionhead is defunct, and no other reason. I don't think Playground Games will do anything for older games.

There's not much reason not to have an xbox if you are an avid gamer. If you take into account PC part prices as well as all the myriad hardware problems that are going on right now, an xbox is a good investment (and less headache).

If you previously owned Fable games on console, they play on xbox series x. They are also on gamepass. They go on sale regularly if you want to own them outright. Less than 10 dollars.

Also, considering how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ microsoft is getting, and the rumors going around that older games will not be supported in the near future on PC/Steam, better off with console for some games. If you take care of them, consoles can last for a very long time. All my consoles still work, going back to Atari-Coleco Vision.

I wasn't trying to say it couldn't be emulated - but unless it's re-released I doubt it will ever be ported to PC. I also agree it's well worth having a console these days. I'm an avid PC gamer and have played PC games since the late 70's so for me to say that is more a fact that there are some great fun games that I have played on PC that I thought would be just as playable on a console controller in my living room. I guess I'm saying there are so many games designed for consoles these days and they play differently. Which isn't better or worse - just different.

I just got myself a new PC and I've gone from a 4 core I7 6700k to a 24 core I9 13k my 6700k has been great for 7 maybe 8 years but I needed a new one for Star Field and a few other games that the 6700K wasn't fast enough for. So I will not be getting a PS5 anytime soon but I would love one and a Nintendo of some sort to play Zelda games as I feel I'm missing out.

Anyway - have a great day, :)

I'm not really into their gimmicks, but Nintendo is great because they are the only game in town to where you can go to the store, buy a game and actually play it as soon as you get home. The usual worst case is you run into an update if buy a game that's been out for awhile.

The 6700k is still a good CPU. I still run it along with a gtx 1080. I have no problem running any games as long as I stick to 1080p in the more heavy resource games. Most games I can easily do 2k. And, let's face it, the resolution to shoot for anyway is 2k because in nearly most cases, there's really not much visual difference between 2k and 4k. The only major difference is shooting yourself in the foot with lower framerates for almost no reason.

General computer maintenance/upkeep/cleanup (or lack thereof) is where people primarily run into performance issues later down the line. Eventually you hit a point to where you really do need to update or buy a new PC but that typically takes a long time (gaming wise).

As far as Starfield goes, I'll be gamepassing that one on xbox and get it on PC later (if it's not a complete shatfest).

Uh, there's been a few Nintendo games that have had issues right off the bat and required quick patches. Tears of the Kingdom and the newest pair of Pokemon games come to mind. Just because they're cartridges doesn't make them superior.
