So I'm probably buying Anniversary after already having played the original xbox version back in the day. It'll be nice, seeing it in brought back to modern times.
Ok it "doesn't destroy it" but it also does not deliver the expectations of a well-done remake, not that it deserved one. I own the original Fable on the Xbox, played it through 2.5 times (lol didn't finish the 3rd run through) and it was 1 of the only games I actually bought on the Xbox, besides Halo2.
But when I saw the "PC version" of Fable TLC, I was impressed with the higher resolutions and smoother framerate. So I was disappointed to see an "anniversary edition" release since it felt like a step backwards...I just think the remake was to make a profit for the X360, which now they have to re-release it for the XboxOne all over again...(consoles...so limited)
its not a remake, it just has a fresh coat of paint, through the unreal engine 3. I for one am going to have a ton of fun replaying this with better graphics and framerate on my uber-pc :D
I see where you're coming from & agree for the most part.. not sure I'd agree with what you say about the textures though, but the color/vibrancy certainly seems to have suffered.
Thankfully there are utilities like SweetFX that can help with that & who knows, we MAY still get the ability to mod at some point.
Just stop crying and shut up
you most likely will be able to "fix" it being too dark.
Add in some anti-aliasing, etc etc.
That is the 360 version.
And the 360 is dated.
True .
The updated visuals are very true to form. You might actually say they're too true to the original game. The style's almost exactly the same, just with more polies and better textures. It does look a lot better though. This isn't like Halo Anniversary, which changed the whole style of the game. This is a straight visual rebuild. Everything's been updated in the same style as before, but much better.
It is slightly darker, yes, but that doesn't really take away from the vibrancy of the game at all. Plus as others mentioned, when the game comes out, people will probably be throwing out SweetFX and ENBseries presets for you to try out, which might increase the contrast and vibrancy a bit.
Trust me, as someone who loved Fable TLC, Anniversary is actually done really well and it's loyal to it's predecessor.
I think it runs on the Unreal engine, which i've never seen a game on that engine that couldn't run on a toaster. Not saying the games look "bad" or anything, just there's only so much you can do on the UE but it's supposibly extremly easy to work with and come out with good results that'll play on many systems.
I really don't know why ppl are comparing the 360 version to the pc, Fable 1 old one looks better than any xbox game!
EDIT: Forgot to add usually the Recoomended specs is only looking at like 30 fps on general "High" settings. As Min. spec is like lowest resolution etc. IMO they need an "Ultra" spec recomendation for maxing said game out at 60 fps....
