can you save the third trader
I have tried multiple times to save him but he always transforms the moment I defeat the troll at the end of the mission, it's always at that exact moment. I've read online that you could save them but those were on forums about the original game, can you save him in anniversary edition or will he always turn no matter what?

i still don't know how, i think its a combo of time and how much damage hes taken, but ive done it multiple times. on the wiki there is a strat that uses more time:

One method of keeping the third trader alive (although 3-4 minutes long) is to take him along with you but upon reaching the Darkwood Camp, leave him there. Transport the other 2 all the way to the end of Darkwood Weir (after defeating the Troll) then ask them to wait and come back for the third one. He will NOT turn into a balverine whilst you escort him to the other traders prior to entering Barrow Fields.

A bug may occur in Fable Anniversary if the player saves the game upon reaching Barrow Fields with the first two traders but has yet to go back for the third at the camp (assuming one followed the strategy above). When loading from this save after entering Barrow Fields, the two traders will run towards the bridge to meet with a villager who welcomes them and you and then confirms your quest as complete. After this occurs if the player heads back to Darkwood Camp from the Barrow Fields entrance then they will find a red barrier has been put in place, preventing them from advancing. It is therefore recommended to complete the quest in a single run or have a save history.

Even if you manage to escort all three traders to Barrow Fields, bards will occasionally sing a song about the quest as if the third trader still transformed into a Balverine. This is likely because the third Trader was not supposed to make it all the way under normal circumstances.

if you manage to kill the balverine before it attacks him, aka using your bow, he wont transform iirc but his dialogue will still act as though he's been attacked.

There's an internal time limit ticking down, you just have to be quick enough to beat it. Killing the balverine that attacks him doesn't matter, damage he takes doesn't matter, it's all about the speed. If you make it out all you'll get is dialogue from him saying he's starting to feel better now that you're out of Darkwood but the bards you pay to sing for you will still talk about him changing if they mention the story.

Easily. Ignore all enemies and just book it to the last area with the troll. Kill the troll, run to oakfield. All three alive.

That's what I did on the last two attempts and as I said, the third trader always ends up turning the moment I defeat the troll

You really gotta book it dude. Talking, zero time in the rest camp, style of book it. Also for the troll, shoot it in the face and knock it's balls back at it. done in probably 30 seconds. THen RUSH that door behind it. All 3 alive.

I usually have a master weapon at that point so enemies die rather quickly, but even then he still turns sometimes, you cannot stop moving at any point, be swift.
