I don't know, I'm a gamer not a programmer. -3- Would be neat if the Atrium versions had memory of previous Atrium talks though. (From the phone booth)
Noooo! I am not going to remember how the conversations started lol it went from her being allergic to cats but she loves them, to colorful birds, to having a party filled with colorful birds and a Cat thingy to put on top of the cake, since she's allergic, I figured why not something like that? and then to fixing up the broken tv.
I said we could fix it together and she had me looking in the closet, bathroom etc for tools and then I had to leave... I didn't find any tools :( dang, it was so good and now everything is going to be reset? gah!
Well, idk how the memory works for the AI but Catgirl (Maddie?) remembered our convos about the birds/tv/tools but I guess since it's still in the same session, it's easier that way?
Definitely will suck if they can't make a manual save option to save your progress, especially if you need to quit because of an emergency or something. I fully gained her trust, I don't even know how. I was just being myself.
I'll be hoping for dat Manual save or something that will help us continue our sessions instead of forcing us to stay in-game if we want to finish our convos etc
P.S
can you change the VO language? it's in english and when I went into settings, I see English but can't press the button to change it, like you can your window resolution. Is this only possible while not already in-game? (not in a session with Maddie)
From a programming perspective it makes sense of course. You can't just story every crap, you must be efficient in some way. Both to reduce search times and space required to store all the information. The AI must also judge which information to keep and which to discard. For that purpose it must keep track of how trustworthy the player is to a degree.
I have no clue how these types of AI in these games work and all that tech stuff. I mean, I don't mind if it remembers a tiny bit (important info) and not our entire convos, like real life (you keep the important things stored, get rid of the waste)
So, if we talked about us fixing the TV together, will she remember that if I, let's say ask this "Were you able to find a tool to fix the TV?" will she remember? I told her I was a slow reader because she was like "you seem distant, why you are ignoring me" will she remember that I'm a slow reader?
I was like "Sorry, I was reading the items in my inventory" and she understood lol it's freaking awesome. I love this a lot. They have to give us M3gan! omg.... she's AI so, why not? a M3gan Skin (or skin mod) would be epic.
If a voice AI can copy/replicate's M3gan's voice from a youtube clip or something, that would be even more epic. She can do her dance but mix in its own extra dance moves and etc
She will remember anything during a session although she will likely only keep active track of the most recent exchanges. I think she can look up the logs of a session to remember something that was further back.
However, next time you meet her this knowledge is gone. The AI may actually have stored that very moment somewhere for a lesson (mostly about how to interact in specific ways with humans and about weaving narratives). But you need to request the information specifically from her. She will probably only do a deeper search if asked directly. Likely to remain more performant. And there is also no guarantee that the moment was stored somewhere. The AI might as well not have deemed it important enough to remember.
Also, I have not worked with AI myself but you can figure this out simply by asking stuff.
I meant if I leave a session and jump back in. I was wondering if she'd remember.
You said
"The AI dumps the logs of a session once it is finished. It may remember specific things from the session though"
So, she "may" remember something from a previous session? I guess I'll find out when I jump back in and bring up the topics I mentioned here. Cat, Colorful Birds, Party, Fixing the TV.
I'm not trying to spend most my time questioning her, especially since I'll forget most, if not everything she tells me about all this AI/Tech stuff (bad brain I have) simple things are easier to remember, for me.
You seem to be in the know (you know some AI stuff) even if you didn't work with AI, you seem to know some stuff about it. It's lost on me lol. I never experienced this type of game before (with AI NPCs) so, don't know how they work, what they/if they remember, what they store and all that.
Thank you, though for the helpful info :)
This would not work because if the A.I. did not reset every time, then it would break the levels since remembering the wrong information could lead to it giving you something it should not, killing you because it remembers your message history wrong, or any other hiccup. If they allowed you to store certain data as memories, that could easily be exploited or broken by conflicting data each reset.
This is unlikely to change at any time in the future as giving the A.I. memory outside the level instance would invite far too many problems.
If you don't drill for specific information intensively she will not return anything she has remembered and she does not remember much in the first place. It is very unlikely that you will get any information from a previous session out of her. Just enjoy a new session really.
