David Hayter's performance in MGS3 was amazing though and I really loved the much more care-free and funny personality of Naked Snake in MGS3 (funny codec calls and what-not).
Not to metion the whole "not hideo" sharade. I honstly could see them using keifer for big boss and hayter for solid so it didnt sound as werid if they meet, which they do its just a matter of how far phantom pain goes into to story.
Not saying thats the case, just more hoping so.
That said i think keifer does a good job, i'll always like hayter but keifer is a nice alternative
It would have been infinitely better if they had chosen a less known voice... Honestly, choosing a voice as well known as Kiefer is pretty much the same as if they had picked someone like Seth McFarlane, or Gilbert Gottfried...
Whenever I hear him say anything in game, it's not Big Boss speaking, it's Jack Bauer.
Didnt liquid had the dominant genes according to end credits of metal gear solid?
that said, it bothers me a lot less than I thought it would after playing Ground Zeroes. Sutherland actually does a pretty good job
and for some pure speculation (but a strong gut feeling) don't be surprised if David Hayter makes a return to Metal Gear
Sam was much worse. He neither acted nor sounded nor looked like Sam should. He;s like some wierd doppleganger the crew was paid to accept. They had the perfect opportunity to introduce a new Protag, but they chose to akwardly keep it as Sam.
They really gotta get a new protag. That or revert back to a less violent Splinter Cell so Ironside could come back.
Thants kinda of hard for Hayter to do since he was never contacted for the part. They went around him.
Please don't talk about things based off rumors.
Also, I never minded Solid Snake and Big Boss having the same voice. I think it helps connect the characters.
You bloody well know Gilbert Gottfried as Big Boss would be amazing in all aspects of this game (minus the serious one). lol.
I'm loyal to David Hayter as his voice is nostalgic of MGS1 and everyone seeks nostalgia. I mean, MGS4 went back to shadow moses, and ground zeroes had the Deja Vu mission. It's not like Kojima chooses to make these nostalgic references for historical or flourish purposes, as they get deeper under the skin for those that have been with him since the beggining. Obviously Keifer is good at being Big Boss. He's not stupid, he obviously did his homework on everything about D.H.'s performances or else he wouldn't know what and what not to do.
Nobody that played any previous mgs game before mgs3 will feel right with Keifer as Big Boss, but we all will deal with it because we know that it's set in stone. You think after Ground Zeroes the old fanbase will still deal with it if they weren't forced? We'd switch back to Hayter in an instant. Loyalty is a big thing when it comes to games that progress their story by making heavy references to previous stories/games.
I mean, i'm fine with Big Boss with Keifer behind the wheel, but the moment they try and do a flashback cutscene or flashback codec call of an older game/story with Keifer *re-acting* the same roles we've heard Hayter do... I definitely will feel some type of way for that. I don't know why I see threads about David Hayter being replaced, and it being filled with "get over it, Keifer is fine" comments or responses. lol people aren't normally fine with it at all depending on how deep MGS got to them.
I'll admit i'm a fanboy for the MG series. Been with it since MGS1. That's over 50% of my entire lifespan. Imagine if for 50% of your life, you gotten used to your dad having a distinct voice, and then one year he sounds like Will Smith (not implying will smith has a bad voice, but a very different distinct one). You won't hate him or dislike your dad for sounding like Will Smith everyday. But you will not be fine about it. lol
