METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Anyone who knows the story of MG1 and MG2, how do you feel about Big Boss?
The question's basically in the title, folks. I'm not that familiar with the story of MG 1 & 2, but I do know that, at the base level, Boss was portrayed as "The Bad Guy", so how does everyone feel about him?

I'm just going from ground zeroes to the phantom pain, they are miffed at the destruction of MSF in ground zeroes, so want revenge.

The premise according to wiki

In the aftermath of the events of Ground Zeroes and the destruction of Militaires Sans Frontières (commonly abbreviated as MSF), Big Boss falls into a coma. Nine years later, he awakes and helps lead a new mercenary group, Diamond Dogs. Adopting the codenames "Punished Snake" and "Venom Snake", he ventures into Afghanistan during the Soviet–Afghan War to track down the men responsible for MSF's destruction. Along the way, he becomes reacquainted with his former rival Ocelot and encounters a unit of warriors robbed of their past, present and future. While he and Benedict "Kazuhira" Miller are initially driven to exact revenge, Snake soon unearths a plot by the Cipher organization to develop a weapon with the potential to surpass even the Metal Gear system.

He was indeed the bad guy in Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2... until you actually play Snake Eater.
If anything, players acquainted with Kojima's presentation style will tell you there are no good guys or bad guys in War.

That's what I've noticed as well. I've been scouring the wiki in anticipation of TPP

Big Boss isnt a bad guy, he wants to make the boss's dream real, he just goes about it in a bad way.

Hard to say how much of MG's Big Boss is truly what Kojima wants for Big Boss.
Yes, they are technically the same, but Kojima did not have the whole universe planned out when the Metal Gear games released long ago.(heck, not even with MGS1) A lot happend on the MGS games, and really, only very few bits of info from the MG games has carried over to MGS games,

Anyway, BB is heading down a dark road. ♥♥♥♥ he has been going through since the Cold War all adds up the turning point of his ground zero. I would like to think that kojima will let player influence how much of a monster he does become in the end, in order to slightly loop back into MG1 &2. Yet I feel that beside how Big Boss will likely turn against the world with his Outer Heaven, very few, if any more facts will stay cannon with MG1&2.

Why won't the remain cannon? Kojima has gone on record to say there will be retcon, though without details on how much or which parts. Besides that, there was a fan made remake of Meta Gear going on in the past 1-2 years that originally had Konami's approval and a lot of potential. However, and somepoint konami decided to pull their plug and the project came to a halt. I'm speculating on Konami wanting plans for a future MG remake that fit into the current games to remain open as the reason to why they cancelled the fan made project.

Basically, I don't think we should assume Metal Gear 1&2 are still fully cannon. So TPP's ending is (partially)up for grabs. That is one of the many reasons why I'm excited for this.
