How big is the map compared to other games?
Is it bigger than Chernarus in ARMA 2 ? (Biggest playable map I can think of.)

They are not taking mountains and hills that you cannot traverse (in TPP i mean) into consideration. Any way there is whole Africa zone to add.

I don't think anybody has crunched the raw numbers yet. It's probably smaller than Chernarus, if only because I hear you can walk from one end of the map to the other in about 15 to 20 minutes. At this point it looks like people are just estimating the size of the map.

Yeah, I just picked an article from the Internet to give the OP some idea.

so Its 32% the size of GTA5 but GTA5 has a lot of Ocean , so it will be pretty big. Just wonder where ARMA 2's map factors in the equation.

If I recall correctly Chernarus took about 45 minutes to traverse corner to corner on foot.

If you played any of MGS games, in article @Danksama linked you can see how much bigger it is than any of them.

Yeah, it may not be bigger than a number of open-world games, but remember that this is certainly the biggest map of any MGS game and probably the biggest map in any open world stealth game (considering that as far as I know that genre is prety small).

All that tells me is that its the biggest MGS map not how big it is in relation to other games which are known for large maps.

The article gives you an idea of it's size compared to GTA V, which is a decent benchmark. The article neglects to include other areas which will (and might!) appear in MGSV as well. Sorry I couldn't find a better article but I picked the first thing I found.

Thanks for the article mate. It's a good read and gives an idea to the size.

This is like when aplle said that their latest ♥♥♥♥♥♥ phone was XX times faster but they forgot to tell faster than what, to me 32% of GTA V map is pretty small, even saint's row has a bigger map than that

Remember that that 32% is only the Afghanistan part, there are other areas in the game too.

Yes but are they including the Ocean in GTA5's map. If so it will still be pretty big.
Nate Mc Bow Aug 25, 2015 @ 10:12am
what they keep saying is that the game will be more than 200 times the size of ground zeroes.
