METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Need tips for stealth.
I dont know why but I can always stealth a mission and get like 10 mins into stealth and somehow the enemies hear me and they are alerted. Need tips to stealth really well. Dont want to alert people. I think it was the guy screaming from fulcon extracting that alerted everyone because I wasnt detected?

You need to fulton people from father away if that happened, yeah. I try to be at least 40m away if they aren't facing me. Also, don't fulton someone you held up who is prone on the ground - they'll start shouting for help. Kick them first to stun them.

Only fulton if your area is absolutly clear. Prone is the best position to not get spotted. Plan your moves and go slow.
Thanks. So I should rather move enemies bodies like leutenants away and then fulcon. Got it. Yeah usally I sit 5 mins and use bionocilers to scout all enemies and learn their routines but they did an upgrade from GZ AI.

always knock an enemy out to fulton them, if they are awake they yell for help and alert people. also don't fulton anyone if an enemy is within 30M, there is a good chance they will notice the balloon and go to alert.

To be honest, I think the surest way is to just get through a mission as well as possible without being detected, and then trying to do a full stealth run later when you replay the mission, when you already know about the big danger zones of the mission and where your targets are.

If you want to stealth blindly, you have to approach it the classic Metal Gear Solid way: Observe all the guards you can see, and find their patrol routs (all of the guards have them). They are designed such that even in bases with lots of guards, there are always holes in their defense in which you can just sneak through if timed well.

D-Dog is probably the best stealth companion. His auto mark has crazy range and even spots people in buildings, as well as prisoners and enemy weapons emplacements and mines. With him you'll have a good deal of time to realise when an enemy on patrol is approaching you.

Fulton'ing enemies is the best way to get rid of enemies. Bare in mind the detection range seems to be around 40m be that far away before fulton'ing anything.

If you don't want to fulton someone and don't want to kill them either, using the quick mash CQC attack knocks them out for longer than a tranq bullet does.

Always have a good look around and plan your route before going in.

The cardboard boxes are crazily powerful for stealth with all the moves you can do. You can also collect posters in the game and attach them to boxes, making solders do various things depending on the poster on the box.

Always stealth at night, and if available use the stealth suit. Night drastically reduces visibility of enemies, and with the stealthy suit you make no noises at all when running in crouch stance, and it further makes you harder to see in the night.

Blowing up power grids with C4 is both a good way to kill the lights and a good way to get out of a base with the distraction the explosion creates. One or more guards go to check it, and the rest will kind of just stare in it's direction. You can easily use C4 as a good distraction this way.

Empty magazines are also a good way to get a soldiers attention in a specific area. Throw one behind a guy who's noticed you and he will forget about you completely.

Enemies will notice if you have stolen any resources, so if you want a total non-alert then knock out any guards who see resources in their patrol route.

Thanks. I still need to unlock the dog lol. About 4 hours into the game. Thanks. Do you know how do I get the stealth suit early or have I to progress into the story and unlock a better crew to craft it. Ill try and get c4 early aswell but will try out the empty mag suggestion you gave me.

Can't remember when you get it, but it's fairly early. Even without it, stealth at night is always the way to go.

The minimum range people can be fultoned at night is about 48m, in the day time it is about 75m. I've kind of tested it, but it's usually in the higher 40's or 70's. Anything less, the person screaming can alert guards. Also, sneaking suit is the best all-around, but it has one draw back, you can be easily spotted in it during the day time. The enemy can't hear you, but that's how I've been spotted. So, remember to stick to the shadows, shoot out lights, make sure to have an ear to the ground or a buddy who can spot enemies so you don't accidentally run into 8 of them chilling by a fire. Also, a good form of forced distraction is to leave C4 on the opposite side of the base and when you feel like you don't have an out, blow it up. Force everyone down and facing the explosion, and you're more or less free to sneak past them for about 12-20 seconds.
