FOB well explaned
Just thought I would share this because it seems like an awful lot of people are scared to log onto FOB for fear of losing resources...

You do lose resources through FOB. But keep in mind that there is a difference between losing your offline and online resources.

Pull up your iDroid, click resources, and tab over to Unprocessed Materials. You will notice a total and some numbers inside parenthesis. The number outside the parenthesis represents your full amount of your unprocessed resources. The number inside the parenthesis is a breakdown. The number on top being the resources you have OFFLINE (Mother Base) and the number of bottom with the circle/globe being the resources you have ONLINE. Only the resources on bottom are the ones available to be stolen via the FOB system.

Now, you may be asking yourself: "Well, when I logged it it says I lost resources!" Yes, this could be true, as far as I can tell, those unprocessed resources are still manufactured while you are away from the game/offline. That is because your information is saved on the Konami servers. So you could be losing resources from online raids, which again, do not touch your offline resources, or you could simply be generating them into processed goods already added into your inventory.

Once any material becomes processed, it cannot be stolen. Take a look at that first tab under resources. You will notice that the number next to the globe is 0. Nothing is online to be stolen.

Keep in mind that your FOB will generate resources too. So, there is really not a concern with losing resources if you are online.

But what about soldiers?
There is concern about losing soldiers while you are online. As far as I can tell (by doing raids myself and being the victim of raids), only soldiers assigned to the security team can be killed/lost.

But I took some A+ soldiers when I raided even though all the guys on the base were E!
That is because the game rewards you with higher rated soldiers for successful infiltrations. Take a look in the bottom left hand corner next time you select a platform you want to raid. You will notice a breakdown similar to the deployments. "If succesful: GMP +80,000 100%, 5 A-C Soldier, 100%, 275 Fuel 75%." Something like that...

So what is this Direct Contract?
The direct contract is a way to "lock" a soldier into their current spot. So if you happen to use the "Re-assign" features, the soldier doesn't get moved over to the Security Team (Online FOB) or Combat Team (Offline Deployments) by accident and risk death.

tldr/Conclusion:
-There is no risk to losing all of your resources by connecting online. The only resources that are lost are ones generated by FOB in the first place, or ones that you have taken from other real players; Not the resources you grinded so hard for in single player
-There is a risk of losing soldiers, but this can be completely mitigated by simply paying attention to your soldiers in the first place

Yeah? Then explain to me how i lost 2mil GMP. When i went to bed i had over 2mil GMP, when i logged in next day, my GMP balance was below 0, and Kaz was explaining to me that soldiers will loose morale and leave.

Thanks for this. However, I've heard people reporting losing A+ soldiers while not having any A+ assigned to their security team.

I toook this from google, well for me am gonna go for the FoB and find the trick for not loosing other members,
Maybe you loose R&D because your security member were dead, you must have more staff in the waiting room

No one is in my waiting room.

If your information about resources was correct, then no one would be able to steal any resources at all. Everyone's online resources start at 0, so how could anyone steal anything?

Players steal each other's offline resources, which then become online resources that can only be used online. Presumably that means these resources can only be processed into usable resources while you are connected online.

The multiplayer is now No Fun Allowed. I've tried it and it's literally full of instant knock-out or infinite health. Konami has literally let their game be killed. I regret that I can't refund this now.

Yeah, silly me bought this to play the online. This FOB nonsense is really dull and the competetive multi, whenever we get it, is only going to be full of cheaters and Konami will do absolutely nothing to try and stop them.

Nope, I've lost R+D to hackers ( I know they were, I retaliated and they were inf. health).

Your security team can be extracted, but if the invader reaches the goal they also take some of the staff that are assigned to that area of the base where the goal is located (command platform, support, intel etc...) how it is decided which soldiers are taken and how many I don't know.

I was in a base, and the owner was actually using invisihacks. He never found me.

Anyway, don't stun weapons work on hackers? Shoot them with the stun shotty and fulton them.
