METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Explain combat deployment to me
I forgot what Kaz said but I remember him saying there were two types of combat missions or whatever. One is easy and the other one is hard. Tell me all about it

One is automactic (you earn some GMP from time to time), second ones are the missions when you deploy units by yourself.

For the automatic ones, do I need to do anything? Just put soldiers in the combat unit and that's it?

Yes, they do some "missions" in the background without your interference. From time to time you will see on screen info like "Mercenary missions: 50000 GMP" or something like that.

You deploy your soliders on missions to gain the rewards. The soldiers you send are skilled versus an exact level of AI and thus you have a percentage of probability. High the probability the more likely you are to succeed on that mission. From time to time you'll fail and loose soliders / injured.

It's worth it tho, you can get some nice GMP, high ranked soliders, and some resources most of the time. Online missions are different, not entirely sure but I think the resources are added to your FOB, they also take an awful lot longer to complete, but have greater rewards.

You may have heard about the games adaptive system. Enemies react to what you do and up their defences. When you choose a (snake, not combat) mission on the right there are icons e.g. a helmet and a camera. Goes from grey (easiest) to white, orange and red (hardest) The combat deployments towards the bottom you can destroy supplies of these for a certain number of missions (3-5).

When you send your mercs out on deployments they will sometimes gain medals which rank them up and give them morale (dog icon after pressing T). I tend to rank them up until they get an A+ and assign them to a different unit.

Just make sure you always have 2 deployments running basically.
Ok under Combat Deployment then Dismatch Missions looks like they're automatic ones. Which ones are the ones I take a soldier out myself and do missions?

You take them out for side ops, not the deployments. On the loadout screen just choose character.
Also for things that have a timer like the automatic combat deployment or Mother Base construction, is it using real time or in game time?

Well, it's real time but only while you have the game running.
