METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Nvidia owners, remember to enable HBAO+ from nvidia control panel.
Really makes a difference.

What does it do? Game runs fine for me with all on extra high except shadows and effects. I turned them down to high after quiet bolted past me and the sand she kicked up near me made me drop a few frames :|
I enabled that, and I made everything else in the control panel to max. The game looks so much better now.
Just make sure you turn the in game SSAO off. It's inaccurate, grainy and all around crap compared to the Nvidia HBAO+.

No point in having two forms of AO enabled.

I wish I could use HBAO+ with Mad Max instead of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in game SSAO.

She made me drop 20-30 fps. Some of the explosion made me drop 40 fps....
(I am using gtx970)
I have a 970 and had the in game ssao on and forced hbao+ and had some framerate drops in villages so I turned it off. I don't know if max effects does too much but I remember the fire on the first mission seemed to affect my framerate and like others have said Quiet's dust. I have shadows maxed out with no issues though.

I'm actually surprised that the fxaa doesn't look awful. To me at least. I remember not liking it in GZ but it looks fine to me here.

The fxaa is aweful for me :steamfacepalm:
I do wish you could use msaa though. I'm not sure why some games do it fine (GTAV for instance) while some games don't do it at all. I mean there's apparently issues with deferred rendering but it's not like some deferred rendered games don't use msaa.
Set to maximum quality in Nvidia Inspector but it runs like crap and ruins the grass and mountains with visible seams. Game looks, in my opinion, much better without any AO. The built in Ambient Lighting works fine for creating a natural contrast between objects.

I've turned on hbao, mlaa and msaax2 by the nvidia control panel.Everything looks better:steamhappy:.They don't really have a huge impact to the performance.I can play this game on 60fps anytime except when the damn explosion happened:steammocking:......gtx 970 is op for this game

It enables HBO on demand for free within the game.. Haven't you heard? Nvidia partner with HBO to release HBOAO aka HBO Available Online
Enable HBAO+ but make sure you disable ambient oclusion in-game, because the game uses pretty bad AO and combining the two makes for a big FPS hit and still looks bad.

The game doesn't support msaa, therefore your mlaa setting isn't working either. I find it hilarious when people say what you said. "I enabled this and that and my game looks way better now!" When in reality nothing even changed... haha.
