METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

too many men, how to get rid off?
So basisically I was FOBing everyone or whatever to take them back to motherbase, now im late game and have like 200 troops, yet 50% or more are E/D ranks in everything, is there a fast way to put them in order and get rid of them somehow? or must I go through every individual soldier and try to dismiss them?

The game should automatically cleanse E-Rank soldiers once you receive higher ranking ones. They should end up in the waiting room for you to fire them.

There is a good way, (I play with a controller) you can mark each one you don't want then fire them. If you are late game, you will be quickly running into a mission where you will be losing a good chunk of them.

I'm using a controller for this so just go to staff management and press the X button (Square for PS3 and G for PC) then select change assignment and select dismiss.

You hit "Select/Deselect" on them to tick the box beside their name, do this for every soldier you want to dismiss, then on the last selected guy hit change assignment "Dismiss"

ok so if i just say, FOB like 50 guys, the game will say "Ok he has 50 men already + 50 more now, he can only fit say 40, lets kick everyone, keep the best 40 of the bunch?" is that how it'll work?

Not at all, Otherwise there would be no use for the Waiting Room.

so what happens then? if i do the fulton 100 men, can only fit 50, will it just throw 50 random of those men even if they are like.. 80C's and 20 A's will it just randomly throw 45 Cs and 5 A's into waiting?

I also recommend under "All Staff" sorting by "Skill" and removing all staff members with the skill "Troublemaker".

How late game are you where you only have 200 troops? I am like only on mission 22, just unlocked FOBs and have 600+, and I have like the lowest count on my friends list.

I mean late game as in, 13 hours odd in, i dunno how long the game is so for all I know its 400 hours but surely someone has an answer to the problem

^^^. If you press V to automate sorting out troops, your weakest ones will automatically be put into the waiting room. Just hold G and Down and you'll easily be able to highlight all those noobs and fire them all at once. I have about 490 men on my MB and very few of those are low ranks.

As Fang and Killionaire said.

-Sort ALL your staff. This moves "dead weight" soldiers into the waiting room.
-Then go one more time through your department rosters and make sure to move the "Troublemaker" trait guys to the waiting room as well, because you generally don't want them unless they have really high stats (they will otherwise randomly hurt / sicken your other staff members).
-Now, go to the waiting room, hold the select key (X for controllers, G on the keyboard) and just hit the Down/S key until you got them all selected. Hit the key to change assignment, and retire them. Presto, room for fresh (and hopefully better) blood.

On a side-note, if you have a certain low-skilled soldier you want to keep, such as a cool-looking dude/chick for your playable character on the the combat team, enable the "Direct Contract" option for them, which will lock them in, unable to be moved, kicked out, kidnapped nor killed.
