Nanomachines, son.
My guess is something like this that is meant to be temp. Except I'd imagine the DD Med team scienced the ♥♥♥♥ out of it to be more effective and stuff.
EDIT: Gah! I helped ressurect zombie thread, quick call an exorsist!
Anyways, Kenneth was poised by FOXDIE after eating a brick of Calorie Mate™ that was left floating in a portable toilet somewhere in Afghanistan and after all his skin melted off, acquiesced to the psychic voices in his head, planted in there by a young psycho mantis, to melt himself into liquid form and end his misery. Thereby becoming a product of great benefit to the military brass.
But the world militaries were not meant to take advantage of Kenneths great benefits of healing, for it was Ocelot from Outer Heaven who found him sitting on a shelf in a Costco located somewhere in the dangerous parts of Missouri and took Kenneth in bottled form back to present him to Big Boss (this was before the events that led to Ground Zeroes). Knowing of Kenneths medicinal properties, Big Boss was impressed by him and offered him a job: to heal his wounds when on a secret mission and alieviate his suffering when required.
Long story short, Kenneth wobbled his liquidy contents in acceptance of Big Bosses offer and the rest, they say, is history...
TL:DR - you're lazy, read the whole damn thing.
