How to make "unprocessed materials"?

So i have a TON of unprocessed materials. I understand that the base development platform is what processes them over time, but if I left my game on while I am at motherbase, will all the unprocessed materials get processed? What determines when and how they are processed? Do i have to complete missions for materials to become processed?

I was actually looking for the same answer. I have tons of unprocessed materials just waiting... and waiting...

Base developement will process them at a certain time as long as you're playing. As far as the exact time on how long, I'm not sure of. Just keep playing and you'll get the resources you need.

I've been experimenting with this. It processes about every hour (real time), leaving it running overnight with my controller plugged in while I have Snake lay down in a quiet spot at MB doesn't have the materials pop up and save, but they do process. It's only when I open my iDroid and close it do the materials pop up and save.

So:
•Go to MB
•Find a quiet spot and lay down (I lay down up top the crane you see on the edges of the struts)
•Plug in you controller so it doesn't disconnect (if you have one/for consoles)
•Then every now and then press your menu button to have your iDroid pulled up
•Close the iDroid
•Processed materials will then pop up, save and Automatic Drilling will also pop up

The time it takes for processing to tick is based on your base development level. Mine's around 75, so it ticks every 10-15 minutes or so.

Also, apparently there's a truck in mission 4 that drives by the guard post just north of the LZ by the Keep that loops around entirely in the mission area. Because it's entering and leaving places, it hits checkpoints and triggers the update without you doing anything. The guy who posted it suggests signing out of the online side of things during this, because apparently a server maintenance disconnect can screw things up.

But on top of what chris9801 said. You can jump in the back of a truck that is moving around on any of the maps and lay down. As it moves around while you're in the back, the game will auto add the resources when the truck is going between outpost.

crua thats brilliant. It beats leaving a game running all night to only get 2000 stupid fuel... While my MB is maxed out my FOB is still hurting for fuel despite my constant 5mil gmp no matter how much i spend on a hop. I've gotten into the habbit of making it rain just to clean my uniform after each hop if i was shot just to spend more. I wish you could buy fuel for gmp.

I assume the whole "Must bring up the iDroid or hit a checkpoint" thing was to prevent people leaving their game running overnight just for some easy resources.

I've tried this - I entered the truck after disconnecting (going in offline mode) - I've gone around several times but my materials aren't being processed. Do I have to reconnect (go online)?

Yeah, you have to be in online mode. Every Tuesday I just turn off my consoles since there's that update to the servers that throws you offline.
