Download reset after 90%
I am a 24 year old male crying toddler tears :'(

My download for MGSV was at 90% and it resetted on me :(

I've tried salvaging the files in the steamapps/downloading folder and placing them in the common/MGS_TPP folder - It appears that steam is discovering the files but the afterwards the download would start at 0% again.

Peak download rates sits at ~250-300 kbps (South African internet for you) ;(

The speeds would sometimes dip to the low 100's, I found that changing the region fixed this issue. The reset happened after a region change @ 90%.

Is there any hope?? i'M dESPPERATE

EDIT: I've been tinkering with the files since starting with the discussion, finally got it to recover 16gb of data :D

- In the "287700" (Program Files > Steam > steamapps > downloading) folder there is a file called "master", I only copied this file to my MGS_TPP folder. This seemed to fix my problem, can't guarantee it will work for you. :D I hope it does

to salvage some of it.
Can you tell us what the exact folder name of TPP in the common folder is?

EDIT: Never mind, it's MGS_TPP as OP said. Anyway, the fix didn't work for me too. It did discover the files but the download still started from scratch.

EDIT #2: My mistake, it actually worked, although I went down to 6gb as opposed to the original 11gb I had downloaded before. Better than starting from scratch at least.

I did everything that was stated here http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3013670
It started at 0% but after a few minutes it recovered some of the files I had and I'm up 30% again.

What did you do after your first edit to get it working? Mine is still resetting to 0%

Asking myself now, is it really so bad waiting another 24hrs for this? Answer: YES :(

I'll retry these steps a few times., glad you were able to get some of your files back at least :)

even if it wasn't Metal Gear Solid.... when you are downloading a game, it means you want to play. So yes, it's bad to wait. And yes, it's bad to have your entire download band "occupied"

Anyway I hope you guys get it all sorted out too. Just FYI, when my download restarted I caught it a bit early, and had only about 100MB redownloaded. So if you redownloaded a lot more than I did, I don't know what the result will be.

Giving this a go now. Right now it's discovering existing files... So here's hoping it works. I have a crappy internet connection, took me 25 hours to download and this crappy reset thing happened on 20.3/20.3, so it had literally finished!

It seems to be when they release a patch during the time you download, it borks up the download itself and bugs out. Pretty bad coding on Steam's part there.

Did this three times now, each time it seems to shorten the amount of files i had in MGS_TPP from 21GB to 6GB, then when it starts downloading, it just deletes all of them and starts downloading the full 20GB again.

If that's true then that's just sad. Not all of us have blazing fast download speeds and having to redownload another 20GB just because of that? Can't do anything but cry and start from the beginning.

Nah, the fix thing didn't work for me unfortunately. It's just restarted from 0 again. Guess I'll have to wait another bloody day until I can play it. They better not release any other patches in the mean time...
