D-dog grew up for me when I finished the last mission in Afghanistan before going to Africa.

Already finished afghan ? I've been playing for 20 hours and i just finished the mission where you recover the honeybee rocket launcher.

Maybe because I do all the sideops and explore a lot for materials ? I also stealth everything.

Well I play exactly like you do.. but I also played Metal Gear on my brand new limited edition PS4 that arrived a week before official release ;)

If there is a counter of in-game days for it, it has to be longer than that, already passed almost 2weeks in afghan in game

You get it afdter you clear either episode 7 or 8 if im right you have to complete up till 8 then you will get a call to come back to base and once you go to leave a cutscene plays and he becomes a buddy

I got him in Mission 5, visited him after every mission and he grew up at the end of Mission 10 when I returned to base.
It takes around 6 story missions for him to grow up, unsure if replays count or not.
