METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Game doesn't actually start (not crashing) [FIXED]
When I launch the game via Steam by clicking Play, nothing happens. No additional programs show up in the task manager.
When starting the game via mgsvtpp.exe in MGSV's files, I get this message:

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.

I've tried:
-Running mgsvtpp.exe as admin
-Verifying game files
-Restarting computer
-Downloading the Beta patch
Nothing has worked so far.

My specs:
OS: Windows 7 x64
CPU: Intel Core i7 870
RAM: 8GB
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5750

Also note that Ground Zeroes works perfectly.

looks like half the ppl that own the game have this problem, they say they are working on a patch... (check the sticky thread regarding Phenom II CPU's)

this is what happens when a games not fully tested, it will likely hit them financialy due to bad reveiws.

Hey guys it sounds like i am having a similar issue:
Hello I am having a very specific probelm and I don't know if it is the same problem other people are having. So when I go to launch MGSV TPP it opens a steam window telling me that it is launching and then steam registers that i am in game then not and it cloud syncs the game and the update news comes up I tried to solutions and neither works. 1) I subsribed to the beta and that didn't change anything. 2) I noticed that the system requirements don't list windows 10 as a supported operating system so i went and tried to run it in compatibility mode hoping that would solve the problem. However upon running the program by clicking the exe in my steam folder as opposed to launching it through steam I was greeted with an error message reading "This program can't start because MSVCR110.dll is missing from my computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." So I went and uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and half an hour later hoping the problem would be fixed I launched the game through steam same error downloaded the beta same error launched it from the folder same error. I don't understand how a file can be missing when I JUST INSTALLED THE GAME.

OS: Windows 10 Home 64 bit
GPU:Geforce gtx 960 (2gb)
CPU:AMD FX-6300 (3.5 ghz 6 core)
RAM: 8 gb
Gamepad/Controller:launch with mouse and keyboard or 360 controller same problem.
Have you tried to download this .dll file?

This is an extremely old post but I'm commenting here because I found an easy (and obvious) fix that worked for me.

Go to:
steamapps/common/MGS_TPP/_CommonRedist/vcredist/2012
and install vcredist_x64.exe

The game starts and works flawlessly after that.
I'm posting because I spent all day thinking I couldn't play MGSV, which is truly a fate worse than death.

My game was working up until today. Same issue happening now. MGSVTPP Process is running in task manager, but no sign of the game actually starting.

For those of you with "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.":
Go to Windows/System32 and SysWOW64 - find MSVCP110 and MSVCR110.dlls in each of them and back up/delete them. Reinstall VC x64. If that still doesn't solve it, download the application "Dependency Walker". When you access the game's .exe with it, the top left panel will indicate any .dlls it's dependent on. Any that aren't correct in any way have their icon highlighted in red. Find those items in their respective folders, move/delete them, then replace them with the correct installers from Microsoft.

I ran dependency walker and got A LOT of red ones. Does that mean i have to run through all them and move and delete them?
