Keyboard and mouse problems
It seems to think I'm using an Xbox Controller when I'm actually using a KB/M. Contextual stuff usually shows the Xbox button except for when I press a key on the keyboard. General movement and mouse look is all messed up too.

I'm currently stuck in the prologue because I can't use the pistol as pressing 1 or any other key won't work.

Anyone?

Have the same problem, posted here this morning but no answers yet. Its acting as if it expects a 360 controller to be plugged in, if I don't hold down the left button on the mouse., the whole scene rotates constantly whilst looking at the ceiling! I thought it might be due to my logitech G13, as it used to screw up Dead Space the same way, but MSG reacts the same even if I unplug it...

I think I'll just plug in my 360 controller and try playing with that. I'd rather use KB/M but I don't want to have to wait for a patch.

Btw, even unplugged there would be half of a joypad buttons and also joypad image in a manual.

I have a xbox360 controller plugged in so the game automatically recognized it for me and I could do nothing at first without using the controller...That said, I could not use the keyboard/mouse until I went to the keybindings (not controls) and pressed around a bit with the keyboard. This seems to have told the game to stop using the controller and start using the keyboard/mouse like it does in other games. Now instead of controller prompts, I have key/mouse prompts.

Open device manager, go to "Human Interface Devices" and disable HID-compliant game controller.

This ^^^^^^^^^^
Thank you, it did seem weird how I have to hold ANY key on my keyboard so i can rotate my camera, when I got to the part where I could use a gun, it will automatically shoot when i press any keys. Disabling that entry (had 2 of them) worked like a charm.

I know, this happened to me too!

Good to know! Thanks for that.

I actually just started playing it with my 360 controller and find the game better with the controller anyway. Might switch back in the future though, when I get tired of plugging it in every time!

Killing, If you have "Virtual VJoy Joystick" in Device Manager under "Human Interface Devices" disable that. That fixed the issue for me.

That didn't work for me.

Under Human Interface Devices, I have "HID-compliant consumer control device", "HID-compliant device", "HID-compliant system controller", and "HID-compliant vendor-defined device". I checked a different Windows computer, and it didn't have "HID-compliant game controller" either.

I disabled all of those listed above. I then get stuck at the name choosing screen. I can type a name, using my keyboard, but cannot click "OK". The mouse won't go there ... the tab button can't get me there ... clicking Enter or Shift doesn't do it.

Color me frustrated.

Even when using a controller it prompts you to press enter :\ (space will work though)

Enter doesn't do it. I can type in a name, but can't hit OK. Spacebar doesn't do it. Shift doesn't do it. The mouse cannot go there. I can't find anything that will let me get past the name screen.

Try arrow keys?
