Chapter 1 will not load

It's strange, the game runs great, and I got throught the prologue without issue. It will say chaper 1 then fade to black like the chapter is loading but will sit there for ages and nothing happens. I checked to see if it had crashed and it's running fine. It just will not load/begin the next chapter.

Anyone else??

I don't use k-lite, but another one... is it the Codecs that are doing this?

Also, anyone else see the humor in Codecs being the issue here?

I can say that it works just fine, the K-Lite Codec pack, not the Mega or others.

All I did was uninstall my codec packs and it loaded without issue.

If you don't have any codec packs installed, uninstall QuickTime. That's what fixed it for me.

I do not know what else to uninstall , I have done everything and the game even for the blackscreen after Snake plays the tape!! Help plz!!! I want play that game so much :(

I'm not sure it's a codec issue if it goes black right after Snake plays the tape at the launch of the game...?

Yes, I second this. Something in the codecs that Kojima Productions used is strange or old enough to make modern codecs wonky with it.

same problem here but I wasn't using any freaking codec pack (I was a codec boy years ago but now I only use VLC player) so I uninstalled VLC player and then downloaded and installed the damn k-lite standard codec pack. If you do this watch the options that is going to be installed because maybe you don't want some of it and make sure you picked 'Codec Tweak Tool' to be installed. At the endof the installation launch the 'Codec Tweak Tool' and follow the instructions given up there and voila! the ******** game works fine. Now I have to wait until I finish the game to reinstall VLC and watch my porn. Damn you Kojima!
