METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

So is the Big Boss a villain? - Spoilers.
And I mean THE Big Boss, not Venom Snake, I couldn't only play MGS4, because I don't have a PS3, so I'm not sure about him if he's a man with misguided intentions, he was right, he got corrupted like the other members of the Patriots. What are your thoughts, seems like a man that wants a world where soldiers can have a place, which is funny, I would want a World where soldiers are not needed, although it's an impossible goal, also it seems that he wants soldiers who are not bound to a government and this is a huge naive view and certainly an Utopia as well. But I could be wrong, not having played MGIV I might have lost some of his main point of views. What do you guys think?

There is a theory that the whole body double thing is a lie. That Big Boss heard "The medic took some shrapnel to the head." and had a personality split at that moment to justify everything he had to do. The game already has lots about hallucinating and rewriting memories, it is highly possible that we could be playing as Big Boss thinking he is Venom pretending to be Big Boss.

True...but I don't think that theory holds much weight considering the physical differences between the two. Unless BB was tripping and isn't really missing an arm and doesn't have a horn...but then...Why is he seemingly perfectly sane in MGS4?
Yeah, some people even noticed the difference, like Emmerich and the AI. Well, it also goes to show that the whole 'legendary' hero is a ruse, since they got a random soldier and made his as badass if not more that the Big Boss himself.
Yeah, he's considerably taller than BB, you can see that in the intro, even when he's hunched. Some say that he's bulkier too, but that doesn't mean anything with roids available.

BB could be missing and arm and having shrapnel and that causes him to think, no, this is too much, it's the medic" hence concocting this ridiculous scheme. Ocelot is constantly giving you backstory and basic series facts, partly as courtesy to new players partly to reference the older games, and also because you have been in a coma and have trouble w memories. Maybe Big Boss sees himself as another person due to this? Not to say he is hallucinating everything in the game, he is still in the world, with Quiet and the child soldiers and other characters, but his dissociative identity disorder has caused him to think he is really someone else. At times he hallucinates that he has his arm back and no horn. This is just phantom pain. Maybe he feels phantom pain for his entire previous identity.

It could be...but it is still a stretch given the fact that he is perfectly fine mentally in MGS4. It would be an odd fit in my opinion.
My vision.

BB got mad at his gov for forcing him to kill his mentor, The Boss., but what realy trigger the evil part of him was in Peacwalker, where he fight the AI of the boss, and at the final moment, the AI decide to surrender and suicide in the lake. The boss gave up the fight for the sake of peace. BB, as a soldier, felt betrayed. It was like "Jack, in a world made of peace, in my vision, we soldier are no longuer needed."
Since then he created the basics of war economy.... developped nuclear detterent, and turned evil. I still got the feeling that in MGS4, he realized how far was Zero from The boss vision and he also realized that in a way he was wrong too. the close up is on Solid and BB forgiving them selfs, and share some time before they die in their own.

Am I wrong ?

No, that is about right.
So he didn't accept a World of peace? He felt betrayed because he couldn't accept a World where wars were no longer important?

Because in MGS4 you are playing as Solid Snake who was then suffering from accelerated aging due to Foxdie

Did you finish MGS4? Because I wasn't talking about Solid at all.
Well if he is able to create split personalities maybe he creates a sane one who will kill Zero.

yes that's what I understood. We can see the boss is ready to die in MGS3. BB thought she was sacrifying for her country, that in a way she was forced. but he realized that she did it willingly, for peace sake. "There is no such thing as an absolute ennemy. ennemy of yerstaday may be ally of tommorow" She knew that as a soldier she was just a tool. From that very point, he accepted the title of Big Boss. a way for him to say "I thought you were stronger than me, I was wrong"

Big Boss kills zero in 4. It is implied in MGSV that Zero helped save his life and he just walks up and kills the guy at the end of his life when there is probably no need to. Is that really the action of a sane man?

Zero helped save his life because he needs him in a way and he did it for old times sake. But Big Boss may have just sympathy killed Zero in MGS4...dude was a vegetable. And their war had to come to an end. Big Boss and zero were the only one's left....so Big Boss decided to end it there.

Even Big Boss said : "I wonder if he feared me or hated me?" Or something like that. It wasn't the action of a vengeful man. Just someone looking to end a war that started 30 or 40 years ago. Big Boss finally understood what he needed to do.

Did he killed him or did he put Zero out of his misery ? he was no more than a bag of meat at this stage. the SOP system he and Sigint created was out of control. they created a gigantic numeric octopu$$y and needed to be stoped. Zero has always been paranoïd. he may have saved BB, but he did lot of bad things too. (he geopardize a clinic and made it's staff/patient being slaughtered, just to cover BB escape, just to name a few.)
