METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Mission 33 C2W (Subsistence)
Why the hell does it take away all my weapons, vehicle, and buddy when I start this mission?

Is it normal? If so, that's pretty ridiculous, making me travel almost 1000m by foot and having to face fully armored dudes bare-handed.

Thats Subsistence Difficulty. Its actually pretty fun.

This is how all Metal Gear games used to start out...no weapons or gear. It is just a part of the difficulty hike. You don't have to do the mission to continue the story in case you didn't know.

That's what Subsistence missions are. You don't have to do them, you could do other types of missions or side ops to unlock new story missions, but it's definitely doable. Just try to remember the basics of CQC.

To answer your question, yes that is normal. It is the difficulty level of the mission. Subsistence means no buddies, no support, no starting gear (all weapons and items are OSP - on-site procurement only) including vehicles.

Be creative in doing this mission, I heard there are plenty ways to do it. And you actually don't have to *face* the enemies. Complete the objective and don't let yourself get seen. Try night infiltration if you have difficulties. There is an outpost to the southeast which can be of help for beginners.

Oh I loved this one.
No shooting dishes from the chopper! :D

CQC someone for a gun, shoot HiFi in the shed, escape, mission accomplished

That's the true MGS Spirit, this is HOW MGS is meant to be played ... In french we say "t'y va avec ta bite et ton couteau" => "Get there with your c.0ck and your knife only"

I got hand on grenade and tossed one through the window of transmission room. pretty satisfying

You don't have to.
In the entire MGS franchise, the phrase "Try to avoid unnececary combat as much as possible" must be said quite a lot. it's almost a subtitle
Wish we go get that mode from the start as a difficulty mode, not some 'let's do this again because we need to keep things going' type of thing

I mean, normal difficulty and the fact that they adapt to your playstyle is quite fun but the game gets easy quite soon even if you don't take buddies along.

You can also beat it by making sure the radar dish is blown before you do the mission. This opens a landing zone right next to the base. I tossed an armor upgrade on my chooper and picked the close landing point. When you fly in get on the mini gun and shoot the dishes. You never get off the chopper.

I Grabbed a Claymore, snuck into transmission room, placed it where I could see it through window and shot it!. Best part, the escape was easy, since the sound of the explosion covered up the firing of my weapon.

Reading is hard :^)

Wish the game had more Subsistence mode missions.

You can also destroy the equipment itself in free-roam, then activate the mission while they're still destroyed. Mission success almost as soon as you begin the mission.

And that causes a glitch with your rank, giving you a "-" instead of a letter and locking you from 100% completion FOREVER. People should only do that once they get an S rank there first.

Welp, I didn't know that. I accidentally did it while grinding for GMP. Thankfully I already got an S for it.
